what do you do/tell yourself/etc. to get over when family members look at you like you are a party pooper for turning down their offer of some non-primal food?

"I stopped eating grains and sugar."

If they press me, I say that I am trying it for 30 days to see how it works.

you can lie, or make something up, like I'm not hungry, but then you run the risk of being offered every time.

I tell the truth but a very slim version, like 'my body does not agree with sugary foods or wheat', something like that.

You have some terribly judgmental family and friends then. Mine don't care, don't judge, don't comment.

Either, ''I'm not hungry'', or, ''it makes me really sick''.

If I'm going to be in this situation a lot in the future, then I use the latter.

Discussing nutrition specifics is a terrible dead end.

I just pass gently but firmly. Control over what enters my mouth is not something I'm going to debate. If they want to act pushy and tedious it's their choice.

One thing is don't be a party pooper. I have to say, I am REALLY over people making the whole universe revolve around their food. "Oh look, a bird!", not exactly that, but you can say no and Move On.

If they don't let you move on they are being obnoxious. "Im really here to have fun, not to discuss my health."
