How bad of a choice was this?

    Shop Now
    Beef Summer Sausage

So, about half of that thing was part of my one meal for the day yesterday. It's not organic (i.e. CAFO beef), but judging by the other ingredients I think it wasn't that bad a choice.

    What say you?

Why are you asking about it on these forums, lol? You don't need an online community to judge and/or validate your food choices (especially what appears to be a one-time thing).

That being said, it looks just fine. I wouldn't make it a regular food in your diet, but it's fine. Much better than a lot of summer sausages.

Hmmmm.... DW is high end of CAFO so its that grey zone of processed meats.

For me its in the once every few months category. Not a bad choice though. But if I'm eating it.... I'm likely to be in "screw it" mood and throw it on a cracker with cheese and mustard.

Now my liverwurst and kerrygold cheese.... they don't need no stinking cracker! I would not soil them so.

It was a very bad choice and you should be banned from the fora. This is just inexcusable. You are dead to me.

Honestly, if it's a one time thing, no big deal. As a rule, I try to stay away from "natural flavorings." It's a catch-all phrase that can mean almost anything. And experience has shown me that if you give big food manufacturers wiggle room, they will take advantage of it to the max.

You can make summer sausage out of deer meat. People around here go crazy for it.(I prefer the regular sausage)

IMO - occasional processed meat = not a big deal.

If I were at a party, and a sausage and cheese platter were the closest thing to primal, I'd eat the sausage, and maybe a piece of cheese or two, and have no qualms about it.

Alright, so not so foul. Good point on orthorexia, Graycat. I did end up having this with KerryGold cheese.

I think that "one meal", over six hours (ok, eating window), was like 2300 calories. Not bad, I think, as I hadn't had much in the days before. Consisted of yogurt, that sausage, the cheese, the cream, a few pepperoinis from the same brand, some coffee, a bottle of mineral water, and unsweetened bottled "tea". Quite the feast.
