You end up eating all day, and not many people can live on one area, especially since not all plants are edible fruit plants. I spent an hour yesterday, for instance, picking maybe two cups of berries--a lot of effort for not much food. Granted, they were small berries, and things like apples are faster to pick. But, they were also at standing height and all ripe and all near each other. Large fruits are not always in season, you have to climb to get most of them, and even for the large fruits you're competing with all the other animals for them (for example, my mom has three filbert trees, they all make filberts, and we've never had a single filbert to eat because the squirrels eat them all before they are mature).

One of the things that separates us from other primates is our ability to cook. You hunt and kill a large animal, cook it, and you can feed quite a few people for quite a few days, and you don't have to spend as much time chewing it because the cooking helps predigest it. That provided early humans the time to create societies, make weapons, and, well, be human.
    Thanks for this response.

I eat lots of psuedograins and beans, so I haven't done a frutarian diet and I do get protein. I feel great, so I stand by a low-fat vegan diet (for me). I came hear with questions about what the fruit situation would have been like in primitive times. By more vascular, I mean more pumped then on low-carb...most people find that happens. Don't eat more animals just because I'm not eating any.
    Thanks for this response.

you know good and well that fruit grows abundantly, everywhere, in all seasons. man is just too barbaric to eat it because we're so under evolved that we like making baby lambs cry.

but seriously, folks. seriously. unless you were born near the equator, there were seasons to contend with. all the fruit you see everywhere all the time is due to shipping containers and factory green houses and planes

I still suspect the OP is a troll, but I'll put a serious answer out there just in case anybody stumbles across this thread who's genuinely interested in the answer to the original question.

If you're going to insist on denying your humanity (we're omnivores with huge brains and tiny stomachs and a digestive system designed for animal flesh), at least try to do it in an intelligent way. You're not avoiding animal suffering, just denying that living things (even apples and bananas) require death to exist. First, read this, then read this. I hope you can avoid ruining your health, but I truly doubt it.

Apes that eat mostly plants are hairy...we aren't. The reason for this is so that we sweat efficiently when running down large animals and thus keep ourselves cool whilst they overheat and exhaust themselves. For all those who thrive eating fruit and vegetables well done, I personally find a day without meat makes me want to eat meat and a day without veg/fruit makes me crave greens and fruit. My cat eats grass not for nutrition but because something in it's brain chemistry yells at it to do so. Like Richmahogany says, our systems evolved based upon running a fuel hungry brain, you don't need that to outwit a mango.

Or maybe YOU got it wrong? There is no pre-designed plan for what humans are supposed or meant to eat! Humans became humans mainly by eating cooked meat and getting more easy assimilated animal protein in their diets! Bigger brains and smaller intestines is a result of this evolution compared to other primates...
