    ^Yes... that.

My end probably won't be happy either, but I doubt it will be because I made cauliflower suffer.

Vegans shouldn't flush, either, because poop has a lot of living bacteria in it. It's inhumane to send them to a chlorine-laced grave. Instead, a true vegan can be spotted with a poop on a leash, walking it down the sidewalk and stopping to let it - do its business - here and there, treating it humanely until it dies naturally like Mr. Hankey.

According to science, logic and just a little common sense. Let's even get metaphysical: if they were to have a "consciousness" or "spirit", plants would have a group consciousness not an individual one. Kind of like the buggers in Ender's Game

Yeah, what about that clone maple forest that's like 30,000 acres of the same tree?

Let's, for the sake of argument, pretend that yours was a serious question

If your friend (btw. he isn't my friend, he's StephenHLi's friend) wants you to eat him, then it's totally fine. Unless!! at the time of the request, your friend's mental function were diminished or impaired. But in the case of factory farming, you're not really respecting the animals free will to...well, be free. And every time that you eat at Mc Donald's (wrong crowd, I know) and buy non-grass-fed meat, you are contributing to the cruelty and abuse. Just like every time you get a new Apple product, you are supporting slavery.

    I disagree...

In the case of the vast majority of domestic animals freeing them would be a death sentence.
By keeping them safe in confinement (though not in factory type farms), providing them with protection from predators, and with supplement feed... they have partnered with humans in a barter system. They live for a while and die/are culled in order for their type to continue to survive.
Without this system the vast array of chicken, goat, sheep, duck, cow, pig, etc domesticated animals would not even exist... nor would they thrive in the numbers they do, or would they have managed to gain access to most of the planet.

As far as the human willing to give up a limb for food to a friend.
Most people would argue that just the fact that the person is willing to entertain that thought makes them unfit to make the decision. Again, I disagree.
I think people have the fundamental right to decide what to do with their lives and bodies.
