My hiking buddy. She'll do almost anything to get the perfect shot.

I am definitely doing better cooking with lard than I am with coconut oil or butter. I can feel the difference!

We are heading out today for a much needed lazy bum getaway for a couple of days. I have the bacon cooked, packaged and ready to travel. The place we are staying is attached to an 80 acre botanical garden which I can spend hours and hours wandering! I am really looking forward to getting out of my routine.

Now that I have the LGIC conquered it is time to work on LGN. DH already thinks I look good naked but, hey, he is a guy. I need to feel comfortable in my own skin. When we get back I need to start on all the big outdoor projects I have waiting for me and that will help. The hall bath remodel is almost done and that means soaking tub! Nothing I like better than coming in from a long day of working in the cold and wet and relaxing in the tub. Great way to warm up when you are cold to the core.

    Off to new adventures!

We are here and I am so pleased that it is raining! I have the garden to myself and am thoroughly outfitted for bad weather, which is good because a major wind and rain storm arrives tomorrow. Call me unconventional, but I love it!!

Tabi is with us as she has to be leash walked for a few more weeks until she heals. We went on a garden stroll where she found so many new smells. I had to keep it shorter than I wanted it to be as she started limping more than she had been. I don't want to break her!!

Wouldn't you know it. Just as soon as I was at the furthest part of the garden from the resort the sun came out and the winds died down. Normally that wouldn't have been a problem but I had an multiple layers of gear for nasty, stormy weather. Once I made it back to the room off came the waterproof boots, wool socks, rain pants, rain jacket, fleece jacket, Polartec leggings and storm hat. Needless to say I was a sweaty mess.

I do feel a whole lot lighter now!

What kind of difference? I cook with butter or olive oil, but have been thinking lard might be better than either of those.
