    More ways with pumpkin?

Now I love pumpkin, but winter has only just begun and I am already starting to feel a little "over" it.

I do pumpkin mash on its own or as a topping for cottage pie. Sometimes has sour cream or coconut cream in it.

    Roast diced pumpkin with bacon.

    Pumpkin soup.

    Sliced pumpkin quiche.

    Leftover pumpkin frittatas.

My usual seasonings are spices such as nutmeg or cummin, or herbs such as tarragon, thyme or basil.

If you can give me fresh inspiration, I'd appreciate it. I can buy a huge pumpkin for $3 at present. It's enough to last a week, but I don't know if I can face another week of pumpkin eating unless I can think of something else to do with it.

Cut raw pumpkin into strips and cook it in fat until brown. Cut into thin strips and dehydrate for soup.

The pumpkin we get here is rather tasteless. They are bred to be decorative, not tasty. It is my least favorite type of winter squash.

Do you want savory or is sweet OK? My family is crazy about pumpkin custard. I buy the canned organic stuff and make pie filling using coconut milk instead of the usual evaporated stuff and a mixture of brown sugar, honey and maple syrup for sweetening. It's summer here now, but come fall I will get back to seeing how low I can go on the sweet before the family squeals.

they wont all be primal or even vaguely primal in some cases but you can use them as a starting point.

you can also do things like use roasted pumpkin slices instead of pasta in lasagne dishes or instead of aubergines or potatoes in moussaka. pumpkin is also sorta savoury bland so it goes with most things. put some cheese or add in some mint and potatoes in a mash to go with lamb. make a real buttery mash to go with fish. we make crustless pumpkin pie by boiling up the pumpkin with some cloves or a cinnamon stick. i used to boil it in broth even. add in something to sweeten such as palm sugar. mix in half a dozen or so eggs and bake till set.

Ryan thanks so much for this suggestion! I would NEVER have thought of brownie. I followed your link, fiddled with the recipe and came up with my best paleo baking ever. Best of all, it didn't even taste of pumpkin. (not that I dislike pumpkin, quite the opposite, but you can sometimes have too much of a good thing). So, thankyou
