    Wednesday - thank goodness.....!

    So, yesterday was not fun, and this morning there seems to be a weight gain to 152 which is 4lbs up - oh well. Not sure what to make of that. Lady time is with me so I'll not panic.

    SI Joint pain is improving, so I plan to do some of the heavy lifting today at lunchtime - it will be very 'light' so that I ease in gently so I don't aggravate it.

    I've done an average of the 11 days of food diary that I have and these are the stats:

    Grammes of Carbs: 46.31
    Grammes of Protein: 67.68
    Grammes of Fat: 102.90
    Grammes of Fibre: 7.61
    Daily Calories: 1,370.35

    I suspect I need to have an lesser calorific intake, and some days it was 900-ish, others it was higher. I was looking at the macronutrient ratios I should be for my height and weight and it looks like Carbs: 60, Protein: 80, Fat: 90. So not a million miles off if I've done the maths right.

    Today I'm sailing - the sun is shining so happy about that. I have not yet started walking into work, just home from but that is likely to change as my SI joint improves. I also have an orthopaedic specialist appointment in 2 weeks. I'd love it if I could get an injection into the joint, but not sure that is the protocol I should want....?!? Pain killer intake is currently low, happy about that.

    Right - anyone with thoughts on my numbers, be good to get feedback on my ratio's. Tnx!

    Thursday, 4th of July!

    Happy 4th to all you guys south of the 49th!!!

    Had a very good 24 hours - both in terms of eating but also I did my first workout since the injury to the SI joint, and I feel really good!!!

    Yesterday's food:
    B - 2 h/b eggs, coffee w' CO / cream / splenda
    L - tuna & mayo
    S - 3 slices of salami & small chunk of red cheddar
    D - 4 hot dogs (as the shop didn't have steak so had to go for back up plan) & and apple

    Exercise:
    the 4 types of Heavy Lifting most basic phase / 2 reps of each to the max I could do which is weedy but better than nothing, followed by a 15 minute walk at lunchtime to walk off any initial reaction **did all this on empty stomach had not eaten for 4 hours prior**
    Walked to the marina for sailing
    Sailed for 3 hours - racing - we WON!!!!
    Got the bus home (bows head in shame)

    Moods / Welbeing:
    SI joint is better, unaffected by the exercise I did which is amazing!!!!! And this morning it's fine too...! Well, not worse lets say.
    Feeling happy, full of energy, positive, not had hives for AGES, skin clear, digestion and bathroom visits are regular
    Sleeping well - and waking before my alarm (6.30am) for the last 2 days

    Today, I am likely to miss dinner due to commitments after work, so I will probably have a banana on the run, and some salami / cheese.

    I have a tape measure today, so I'm going to take some measurements and they'll be my base. I'm 3 weeks in, however I don't really think I've shrunk yet. It's been a struggle with the weight / size thing for me, but I'm not losing faith....

    Friday - phew!!

    Yesterday was good - ended up at just over 1400 calories. Not too much walking, wrong shoes....

    Good news was I had only 3 ibuprofen after going to bed, having taken none through the day (never happens) and took them for period pain and not the dull pain I'm in all the time...... This is clear progress for me.

    Food:
    B - 1 h/b egg, coffee w' cream and CO
    L - tuna / mayo
    D - 1 whole avocado w' dressing (store bought), 2 chunks of cheese, 6 slices of salammi with philedelphia and a banana

    Exercise:
    Minimal - some walking but less than normal.

    Wellbeing:
    Pretty good - no pain killers till after bedtime as woken with period pains. SI joint pain is still with me but minimally - enough to feel it, not enough to make me stop doing things (within reason). Emotions good, no bloating from bad food choices, and my mayo and dressing have soya bean oil listed in the ingredients (??).

    Weekend plans are for a hike one day, and relaxing the other, sun is shining so will get some rays in. Will look after my back & SI joint as best I can. I'm doing a Heavy Lifting workout today, and will take a walk afterwards at lunchtime. I may sprint either Saturday or Sunday if the mood takes me.

    Monday - July 8th

    Wow - what a weekend..........

    Food wise, not great, but not downright awful. Probably under nourished!!
    Moods - well, up and down, big fight with mother. Then got asked for my number by a boy!!
    Activity - small walk on Saturday, then called to crew in a yacht race on Sunday, and man am I bruised and sore!

    Saturday Food:
    B: 2 fried eggs w' 5 rashers of bacon / coffee w' cream and splenda
    L: didn't have one
    D: salami slices on the run, another Starbucks and 2 store bought cookies

    Sunday:
    B: 2 Starbucks, 1 peanut butter cookie
    L: 2 banana's / 1 apple
    D: Didn't have one

    Pain in my right hip where the SI and Sciatica originate have been pretty bad. Not happy. Still having period pains, and that may have affected things too.

    Someone today at work commented that they think I've lost weight, and I'm less conscious of what I look like in shorts.... May be psychological, but it's positive. Will plot the food so I can see the breakdown, but I know it was not good.

    Today I've worked late, so had 2 eggs for brekkie, tuna for lunch, and I'm going to make butter chicken curry when I get home, as the chicken will go off soon.....!

    Plan on 2 days of heavy lifting this week, and I'm off for a loooooooooooong weekend camping on Friday morning. Camping, hiking, swimming and chilling!!!

    Tuesday, July 9th.

    Pain is up again - really frustrating. Had to buy paracetamol for the first time in ages, and took some along with ibuprofen. Grr...

    Food was normal - eggs / tuna / and made a chicken curry for dinner :-) And lots of broccoli.
    No walking - in pain, and schedule was messed up at work, so started at noon, finished at 19:30.

    Today, I forgot to eat anything till about 14:00..... I felt weird and was trying to work out why..... Wasn't hunger or tummy upset, more an anxiety. And I'd not had any water since yesterday. Anyway, ate one of my HB eggs and there were really yummy sammi's in the kitchen, so I had one (dumped the fochacia bread of course!!). Now I feel better, but still probably should eat some more.

    Will be walking home, and a friend is coming for dinner - left over curry, and some berries and cream is what I'm planning. Was going to try and get some Heavy Lifting done today, but I'll have to do that at home now as I've missed my lunch time slot - things got really busy here.

    Hope everyone is having a good week - not on here much this week. Work is getting in the way.

    Morning - Happy Wednesday (hump day!)

    After yesterday's forgetfulness about eating till afternoon, I had lovely left over curry and a friend was over and I made some rice. I ate some too!!!! And I quite enjoyed it. She ironically had an issue with the cream in it, I was fine. I guess I'd not known how sensitive people are to dairy and the other thing is that I must be fine with it!!!

    Was meant to do my lifting yesterday but didn't have time - will do them today at lunch. I'm sailing today too so that is my 'play'!! I'm still covered in bruises from Sunday's race.

    Pain is stable at mildly painfull - been taking pills morning and night, walked home yesterday too.

    Bought my flight tickets to Australia yesterday - first time back since 1989 when I was in first year of 6th form! It's gonna be a mega reunion of family and also 2 school friends from all that time ago. I'm beyond excited!!! I'll be in Perth, no time or money for a more extensive trip, but even so, I'm so thrilled to be doing this.

    Thursday - or in my case, it's a Friday :-)

    Off camping tomorrow, can't wait!

    Food been going well. Did my weights yesterday but struggling with even the most basic / simple plank as it seems to aggravate my SI joint injury, so can't do the side ones yet.

    I'm feeling pretty good - moods are good, and my tummy 'feels' tighter. It may not look tighter yet, but I feel like I can engage it a bit more. Will take some follow up pics in a week or so and check it all out!!!

    Will be doing alot of hiking / swimming over the weekend, and camping is pretty primal anyway which feels good.

    It's amazing how much better my moods are when it's hot and sunny out. I do love it, and Vancouver has been having a nice stretch of it - I'm improving my 'Irish' tan quite nicely!!!

    Wednesday - July 17th

    Weekend away camping was great fun, but I did stray from the path of Primal, even more so than the 80-20 law!! Ice creams, marshmallows, and wine gums! All sugar based slips.

    Also, we didn't do the hike we were going to - but instead OD'd on vit D!! OOps!

    Back to the swing of things.

    Monday - forgot to eat till dinner time - then had stead with veg in creamy mustard sauce & raspberries and cream
    Tuesday - 1 HB egg - Salad made from the insides of 3 catering sandwiches :-) - left over steak from Monday + raspberries and cream
    Wednesday - must do some heavy lifts today. Only did one day last week.

    Saw an orthopaedic consultant yesterday for my lifelong sciatica, and to be honest, was really more interested in getting my SI joint fixed. I've been referred to yet another consultant (apparently this one specialises in replacements - I could have told him that was unnecessary! grrr), an MRI with dye, and I begged for an injection into my SI joint, so referred to a radiologist for that. No idea when any of these will come through and felt rather demoralised by the whole experience.

    So far the best improvement I have had to my pain has been the change in eating. But the SI nerve trap / inflammation is just not getting better - and it's far more inconvenient than my 20 year old sciatica. Hey Ho.

    Back home, back to routine, back to good eating, back to good exercise, back to Vancouver - a city I love!!!

    Monday, July 22nd

    Morning all,

    So, the Royal baby is on the way - how exciting!!!!

    In my news, I've had a pretty up and down week. The downs have been: I'm totally disappointed with doctors, the fact my tummy still is there and not pancake flat, inability to sleep properly because of pain. The ups have been: awesome friends, weather has been great here, trip to Australia in September being planned...........

    Anyway, enough moaning but it's tough. I've been pretty good with my eating, the one thing I'm thinking is I should cut down on cream as it may perhaps have a contributing factor to my non-decreasing tummy. Tried coconut milk for the first time which was pretty cool as it goes, so swapping one for the other may not be as dreaded as I anticipated.

    I am trying to be positive with the exercise movements, but my back and hip keep hindering me. I'm off tonight to paddle board for the first time, no idea what to expect, been told it's a 'core workout' - I don't have a core so that'll be interesting!!!

    General food per day has been:
    2 large starbucks coffee's w' cream & splenda
    2 h/b eggs with butter
    salad of lettuce, mushrooms, cucumber, tomato, 1/2 avo, grated hard cheese
    chicken curry made with coconut milk and just a splash of heavy cream, 1 cup of brocolli
    snacked on bananas / berries w' cream or apples.
    Did a fair amount of walking over the weekend.
