    LDL high?

    Primal Fuel
I'm 3 years on primal diet.

1.5 years ago my total cholesterol was 300, HDL 65, Trigs 65

Few days ago my total was 240, HDL 65, Trigs 68

Is this OK cholesterol, or should I try to somehow raise HDL and lower Trigs? If yes, how should I go about it?

First calculate LDL: Total - (HDL + [Trigs/5]) = LDL.
    240 - (65 + [68/5]) =
    240 - (65 + 13.6) =
    240 - 78.6 = 161.4 = LDL

    Then calculate your fractions:
    Total/HDL: 250/70 or 3.57 (ideal = 5 or below),
    Trig/HDL: 40/70 or 0.57 (ideal = 2 or below),
    LDL/HDL: 172/70 or 2.45 (ideal = 4.3 or below), 161.4/68 = 2.37, Very good.

Thanks, but are HDL and Trigs good or not? What should I do to lower Trigs?

Thanks, I was thinking they're not that good since I've seen in some posts on this forum HDL as high as 80-90 and Trigs as low as 40

The same book I mentioned to you earlier lists optimal HDL as 50-120 mg/dl and optimal triglycerides as 40-100 mg/dl.
    Starting Weight: 197.5
    Current Weight: 123
Lost 75# eating low carb (20-40 g) and then MDA primal low carb. Tried many other options but only LC helped me lose weight and improve health. Now at a good weight, I find my body can tolerate a few more carbs but rarely go over 100 g.
