How about just saying I follow a high quality food diet? Followed by I try to only eat foods that:

Are grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Are fresh, organic and not genetically modified.
Contain no added growth hormones, antibiotics or other drugs.
Do not contain artificial ingredients or preservatives.
Did not come from a factory farm.
Are grown with the laws of nature in mind - meaning animals are fed their native diets and have free range to be outdoors.
Grown in a sustainable way - using minimal amounts of water, protecting the soil from burn out and turning animal wastes into natural fertilizers.

Yeah, to this extent I say that I purchase direct from local farmers who utilize sustainable practices.

I think a lot of people have an ah-ha moment with the evolutionary biology angle. I don't think it needs to be thrown out. I am happy to say I eat paleo and if anybody has a problem with it, it's not my problem.

I have mixed feelings about the Paleo/Primal label with the whole "eat what Grok ate". On one hand, I think it's helpful in getting some people into Paleo, and made it more mainstream. On the other hand, people get waaaay to hung up on it being about eating what a caveman ate.

It should be about eating what is optimally healthy for you. Honestly, at this point I usually just say that I eat real, unprocessed foods. People don't attach the same ridicule to eating real foods as they do to Paleo.

I've gotten to where, when people ask what I do to be in great shape, I just shrug and say "I dunno; don't eat crap food, lift some weights. It's not tricky."

If people ask why I look so slim these days I just say I follow a Paleo diet, or low bad carb diet. The question is always "what's that"

    A. trying to eat real food while avoiding grains and sugar.

The reply is usually " what..no bread, I can't do that"

I zone out at that point
Caution! My replies may contain traces of nuts!. My posts are just my opinion based on my experience with the primal way of life, there is no assurance it will work with others in the same way.

    Started Primal 15th October 2012
    Height 5'9"
    Start weight 200lb
Loss so far 33.8lbs, now 166.2lb
    Goal was 168lb's

I like the idea of not calling it anything. It's not a ______ diet, for me it's simply the way I eat, just like anybody else! Why analyze and label my diet? lol. If someone is really going to press me though, I don't say I'm following a particular diet, I just say I avoid processed foods and if it can't be eaten raw, I probably don't eat it (regardless of whether I actually do cook it or not).
