    Running Music

    Primal Fuel
I don't run very often but when I do I must have music.

    My all time favourite:

This can keep me running forever. But I don't want to have it on repeat so many times I get sick of it.

So lets compile a song list...! What works for you ?

You look kind of wafie.... you should stop running and just listen to the music (preferably while you're deadlifting)

Which part of "I don't run very often" didn't register?

Not a fan of dead lifts either, I prefer shoulder presses and weighted squats. They comprise 2 of the things I do about 3 times a week. Running - maybe once a fortnight, 5km.

Not a runner, but I do like having music when I workout. If I'm doing something involving heavy weights I like angry music, Rage Against the Machine being my go-to. For more cardio/endurance I like old school techno (ha that doesn't even sound right) like Chemical Brothers.

Temple of Love is an awesome song btw. A more recent band that is reminiscent (to me) of that song is She Wants Revenge, particularly their first, self-titled album.

I quit using any kind of music player when I run because it screws up my form. Watch people who run with an iPod in hand or on arm, and they will always favor that side with their arm swing. Don't do it!!!

    She Wants Revenge? Ohmygod yes.

I'm with you on the techno/electronica for cardio, but you can find rad remixes of pretty much anything.

When lifting I listen to a combo of hard rock, and rap. Then when I run I listen to EDM(electronic dance music). It always has a good tempo.

Tonight, I did a really, really, REALLY rough Crossfit workout. It's one by The Outlaw Way, for competitive Crossfitters, and it is common when I do them to see my life passing before my eyes.

To combat this, I have 3 playlists on my mp3 player. One is called "Slow and Sane", another "Insane", the last is aptly called "Deranged".

Slow and Sane: used for long, slow workouts such as cycling, hiking in bad weather, anything else.
Sample music: Sibelius (my fav artist of all time), Handel, Bach, occasional jazz.
Favs: Sibelius symphony #5. If this does nothing to you, you are already dead inside.
Sibelius - Symphony No. 5 - III. Finale - YouTube

Insane: used for probably 80% of my workouts. Usual weight lifting, light cardio.
Sample music: Jacks Mannequin, Pearl Jam, Brand New, Pink Floyd, The Cars.
Favs: Okay I believe you" by Brand New, "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd, esp Van Morrisons remake
    4. Okay I Believe you, but my Tommy gun Don't - YouTube

Deranged: This is used in extreme circumstances only Usually for setting one rep maxes, doing masochistic met-con workouts like today, or otherwise running myself into the ground.
Sample music: Mortal Treason (metal), Breaking Benjamin, Trust Company, Old Metallica (Master of Puppets, anyone?)
Favs: This is instrumental, their other stuff is pretty much death metal, so be prepared.
Best Case Scenario - Mortal Treason - YouTube

Or this. Any song with a line of "I don't think you wanna f with me" is a win as far as I'm concerned for workout music.
Breaking Benjamin - Shallow Bay - YouTube

Or an all-time fav. The mother of all workout music:
Metallica - Enter Sandman [Official Music Video] - YouTube

    Hope my playlist helps
