New to primal
I've seen the words "primal" and "paleo" mentioned before, even wandered onto Mark's Daily Apple once before wandering back off without learning much. Recently, I started on another low carb program to try and lose weight and when I realized there were many similarities between primal and what I'm doing now, I decided to learn what primal is really all about. I just started reading the Primal Blueprint today and hope to learn more.
I'm a 34yo female, mother to 5 and I've been obese for a long time. I was an average child, but rapidly started gaining weight when I was around 12 - 13yo. My mother's solution to my weight problem was to put an appetite suppressant on the rim of my huge plate of food. I was overweight when I got married and put on weight after each one of my babies, gaining 40.5kg (89 lbs) from my wedding to date (13 years). I went low carb last year, only eating proteins one day and eating proteins and vegetables the next day. I managed to lose 27.5 lbs (12.5kg) , but "fell off the wagon" and couldn't seem to get back on. My sugar and carb cravings took over and I gained back 13.2 lbs (6kg) from September last year to the end of April this year. I once again managed to get back on track, cut out sugar and carbs and am now eating protein and vegetables at every meal. So far, I've lost 9.5 lbs (4.3kg) in the last 3 weeks. I'm hoping that learning more about primal will help me streamline my diet to achieve greater results long term. So far, I haven't been exercising much because I keep injuring my back. I'm only going for walks on the beach or taking my kids to the park to try and get my back to heal before I do more. I guess that's about all I need to say, in a nutshell.
