    Cicadas challenge

    Primal Fuel
In the eastern USA the 17 year cycle for Cicadas will start in later this Spring so I was thinking of trying these as a food additive. I found this online on how to prepare them and will adapt this to Primal.... now if I can catch some will be another story.

Anyone ever try eating some of the Cicadas? or want to try?

Somebody please please please try it and report back! I'm curious, but not enough to try it myself. Besides, I don't think they have them where I live right now.

Great...thanks. There are local reports of Cicadas here but none that I can hear or see so far.

Our 17-year cycle was about 4-5 years ago, and I remember thinking how you could feast on those cicadas...but never tried. I would definitely go for it now. Looking forward to hearing about it.

I think you remove the wings and legs to cook them. Search online to find recipes.

We don't get them here in New England, or I'd have tried them years ago.

Probably not, but if a neighbor made a batch, I'd try some. I eat crawfish (yum squared) and shrimp (yum), so I guess I'm just a step away from eating bugs.

no no no no no! yuk.

though i remember in a book i read about the locust plague in 19th c midwest, that sometimes the bugs were called "land shrimp" b/c they had a similar flavor. I don't want to find out!

seems like cicadas would be a little tuffer/chewier than grasshoppers.
