    Summer Bucket List

    Primal Fuel
    Summer is around the corner and I sat down with my 11 year old to plan a summer bucket list. This is a list of things we want to make sure we will do this summer. Some of the items will be repeated (like the pool since we have passes) and some are just for the kiddo.

    Here is most of the list:
    1. Draw creative hopscotch with chalk
    2. Go to the pool
    3. Go fishing
    4. Scavenger adventure hunt
    5. Go to museum.
    6. Take cookies to the firemen
    7. Bring flowers to 1 or 2 nursing homes
    8. Create your own Sundaes
    9. Tennis Camp
    10. Basket ball camp
    11. Play badminton
    12. Go to the library
    13. Take some photos
    14. Berry picking
    15. Film your own movie. ☺
    16. Roast marshmallows with a friend
    17. Camp out in the back yard
    18. Go to a different park with a friend
    19. Go to 2 or 3 different zoos
    20. Fly a kite
    21. Road Trip ☺
    22. Make a time capsule. Open it every 1 year
    23. Create chalk art
    24. Take a nature walk
    25. Treasure hunt
    26. Collect and decorate rocks
    27. Watch fireworks
    28. Visit an animal shelter
    29. Go to Prairie Rose
    30. Ride a miniature pony or a horse
    31. Pick an official summer theme song
    32. Go to the farmers market
    33. Catch fireflies at night
    34. Spend one whole day barefoot
    35. Eat something NEW
    36. Go to the drive in
    37. Lemonade stand
    38. Make ice cream
    39. Eat watermelon
    40. Watch summer Olympics
    41. Grill pizzas

    43. Create a fairy garden

    Backpacking in Glacier National Park and eating fresh porcini mushrooms on the trail.
    Female, 5'3", 49, Starting weight: 163lbs. Current weight: 135 (more or less).
    I can squat 175lbs, press 70lbs and deadlift 180lbs

    Both of you are pretty ambitious. I'm still fairly on track to try 52 new things this year. Sadly, almost all of them have been food. I was hoping for more experiences, but so far, I'm a slacker in that area.

    for the most part mine are local and fairly simple to accomplish. That was done on purpose for the DD.

    Fun thread

    The biggest thing on my list will be doing a week long road trip from MI to TX for a family wedding, and doing primal while eating fast food for like 6 days That will certainly be an adventure!

    Otherwise-
    -lots of zoo outings with the kids and friends (just bought our annual pass yay!)
    -a weekly bike ride with kids and mil-we did this once last year and it was so much fun, so we're going to make it a weekly thing this year.
    -make a list of all the parks in our area and go to each one at least once (there's a LOT of parks around here)
    -nature center at least a couple times, this is a perfect Sunday night family activity
    -LOTS of weekend fun our sailboat, out on Lake MI
    -wear a two piece swimsuit on the sailboat, for the first time in years, because now that I'm at goal I have the confidence to actually go swimming
    -keep upping my walking every month (goal is 40 miles this month, more next month)
    -keep learning how to eat primal
    -work with my son on the alphabet, which he really struggled with in pre-school, so he's ready for kindergarten this fall
    -catch up on my big reading list-last year I had already read over 100 books at this time, this year I'm at around 60 so far for the year.
    -go to the farmers market every single week-no excuses!
    -go to U Pick farms for strawberries, cherries and blueberries and freeze, freeze, freeze (strawberries and blueberries)
    -make freezer jam and applesauce
    -have a day every week where we do absolutely nothing but hang out around at home. Last year we were too busy!
    -keep at strength training and take it outside on nice days
    -summer reading club for the kids (last year I was lazy and never turned in the darn charts-epic mom fail!)
    -get into the habit of going to garage sales again
    -work on putting together a primal binder with recipes, tips, info etc. Just started this and it's going to be a huge project, but something that will really be nice to have when it's done.

    Sara- love it! I need to make my dd her summer "journal" for all of our adventures- saw it on pintrest. Your list is fab and hey, don;t stress the library thing.. that was me last summer too.

    mom23kids, honestly, the easiest thing is to bring a cooler and some pre-made stuff. OTOH, I've never been a mom to any kids, so if they're going also, maybe a cooler will be just one more hassle on the road.

    The road trip will be me, dh, our oldest dd, who's the flower girl for the wedding (8), my fil and then we're stopping in IA to pick up a teenage cousin and then his mom/dh's aunt. Our other two kids are staying home with my mil (she's finishing cancer treatment and can't do the long car ride).

    I was thinking Larabars, Kind bars, jerky and nuts for breakfasts/snacks, and then after that I don't know. We're renting a mini van but there's not going to be a lot of room, especially after we pick up the IA people. We don't have a lot of extra time, so it will be fast food drive throughs and gas station stops for food.
