I put in some more time on it last night while the guys were putzing around with the DVR. I was able to get in over 400 words after having had to put it down for a week. The story flowed back to me that quickly. I think I may actually finish this one. I actually have yet to look into publisher submission guidelines, mostly because I was/ am under the impression that the fantasy market is saturated. I may do that here this week.
You're right, having a plan will help, and not just a vague "get it done by x." I do well under creative pressure, but I honestly have no clue how long this book will be, except that it'll easily clear 100 pgs once put into novel pages.
I do have a plan though. and it's one for me to stick with: bare minimum 500 wds per day, including weekends, with a preference of at least 1500- 2000 words (my customary mark when writing outside the house.) If things get in the way (job hunting, etc,) this equates to a minimum of 3500 wds a week, with a preference of at least 10,000-15,000 wds per week. I'd like to have it done and be editing by September, but we'll see how long this one takes. Time to take a page out of SWG's book and start using a Yea/ Nay schedule and see if I can go about not breaking the chain.
The little voice of self denial in me keeps trying to remind me that the market is probably saturated and my book can't possibly be different enough to get me a spot. Time to shut it up with research and writing.
Yeah, 3 websites in and my little voice of self denial is a liar. Time to get writing.

Mi mami is having female issues, culminating in a full hysterectomy next month. The way she describes it, it sounds like perimenopause, just on the heavier, longer, more often end of it. The doc gave her the option of dealing with it or surgery and Mom chose surgery, partially as a precaution against the ovarian cancer that took her mother.
Mi papi, just found out (gee, what a surprise) he has type 2 diabetes. The man loves his carbs, loves his beer/ wine, and rarely exercises. I'm not surprised. I'll call him later and weasel the conversation around to Primal and see if he's willing to give it a go.

Sorry to hear about your parents. I know when Clint was primal, he said he could tell a difference in how he felt with his blood sugar.

The fantasy market might be saturated (no idea to be honest - the 'good' fantasy market is not saturated though they are putting out a bunch of crap lately) but there is still room. You could try self-publishing like Panda, and one author I read tossed his first novel up on his website and just asked people to donate $1 by paypal if they liked it. Apparently he wrote the novel to see if he could. The book is now published and in the intro he said after he had about $3000 from 'likes' he figured he should give the whole writing thing a real go. I also heard/read somewhere that the best place to break into the market is through short stories. Get your name out there that way and then publishers will come to you and say, "So about that novel..."

There are a bunch of publishers still accepting queries, and most sources I ran across say the market is growing like a motherfucker and needs MOAR! I may self publish with a donate button, with a phrase like "pay what you can and what you think it's worth."
Which means I need to finish that novel. Which won't happen with pissy little word counts like 410 and 539 like I got over the weekend. See y'all after I hit 100 words today.

830 words in today and I finally found a critical story break after 64 novel pages total. On to the meat of the story!
