The fire chief in my town was just named to another municipal post, making his total paid government positions = 4. He gets paid for 4 jobs from local taxes.
"Ah, those endless forests, and their horror-haunted gloom! For what eternities have I wandered through them, a timid, hunted creature, starting at the least sound, frightened of my own shadow, keyed-up, ever alert and vigilant, ready on the instant to dash away in mad flight for my life. For I was the prey of all manner of fierce life that dwelt in the forest, and it was in ecstasies of fear that I fled before the hunting monsters."

    That seems a little excessive.

Ah, the glorious People's Socialist Republic of NJ! Where taxes are astronomical, crime is rampant in the cities, law-abiding citizens are left disarmed and vulnerable, the roads and traffic suck, and the politicians are all corrupt! It can't get any better!

If it weren't for my job, I wouldn't live here. I'd be in a state that respects individual rights and liberties.

I've never been to NJ, so I'm not sure if you're being dramatic or trying to tell me what NJ is like. (No, really)

Though, I do know Camden is there...Camden is bad.

If it weren't for New Jersey's deeply-ingrained political culture, this would be a nice place to live. The town I live in is nice and quiet. Unfortunately, decades of socialist Democrat control (and the occasional Republicans-in-name-only) have made it harder to live in this state. We pay absolutely insane property taxes. State income taxes aren't much better. We keep sinking more and more money into the public schools, and they haven't improved. The cities of Newark, Paterson, Jersey City, Camden, etc. all have serious crime problems. Law-abiding citizens who wish to own a gun have to jump through flaming hoops to get a firearms ID card. None of the gun control laws here have stopped criminals in the aforementioned cities. The roads here are among the worst in the country, despite nearly round-the-clock roadwork being done which helps contribute to our traffic problem. The political elite have nothing but contempt for the citizens of this state, and treat us like a bottomless piggy bank. It's no wonder more and more people have been leaving the state.

One of the problems with NJ is that it is still filled with counter-revolutionary 20th century do-gooders who say, "law abiding" to mean "decent" even though they know that the laws are unjust. Fuck being lawful.

Just got back from doin some remodelling with a friend, and there was a chopper full'o camouflaged armed men hovering over the entrance to my apartment complex. No ground presence- I honestly think they might have just been posing as school kids got off their buses.

A lot of the laws here aren't just unjust, they're unconsitutional. That means nothing to the socialists that control the NJ Legislature, though.

I always feel like to call a politician a "socialist" is an insult to real socialists; the politicians with Socialist rhetorically-flavored policies still daily betray the working class they claim to champion with exponentially outrageous violations. But the real socialists, in the streets with bricks and shit- they are pretty awesome and worthy of respect. Anyone willing to engage and confront the ruling class power structure, at risk of their own bodies = fuckin total greatness.

I am inclined to think while spitting that the political-class "socialists" are sociopathic lying motherfuckers that will say anything to increase their prestige and legitimacy among the diminished ignorant that sustain their life style, but, remember Reinhard Heydrich people! Lots of good people probably end up in some kind of representative government, but they are then subject to the nano-tech satellite espionage of the Intelligence community, as in, are inevitably black-mailed and then controlled. Also let's not dismiss the fact that the architects behind and factions within the ruling classes have straight murdered opponents without regard for their office (Kennedy, MLK, the entire Polish government in dub9), so even the best people with good intentions are going to play MonSanto's tune when their other option is to see their family dead in a plane crash.
