CarbDodger, that's awful! I'm glad you found your way to primal. Best of luck on your journey

I'm going to be the cynical newbie here! I think that people want to believe that governments and Big Agra are looking out for their best interests. Developing a better understanding of your national food agency and multinationals like Monsanto is kind of scary, especially if you don't know what to do or where to go next.

Ray Peat makes nice art I see

But Carbshy girl, all the cynical stuff above here is true, following money has made the system corrupt. But you don't want to be cynical for to long...

...so be your own doctor! This might sound arrogant, but do it, not because you are better than them, but for you!

Greetings from the lovely south of the Netherlands

Well, CarbDodger, the good news is that if you aren't terminally ill you'll probably gain your health back and feel better than you ever have before. But if you are terminally ill, you'll at least probably feel a lot better in your remaining days and perhaps even gain a little more time on earth. Good luck to you.

I am more optimistic than you. If anything, it seems that primal-ish stuff is catching on. Dr. Oz. Wheat Belly. Omni Diet. Gluten-free. Doctors slowly changing their minds about deit when their patients come in 20 pounds lighter. Weight Watchers toning down the carbs. Primals preaching to their friends. I don't think the processed food industry can hold this back forever.

MY PRIMAL: I (try to) follow by-the-book primal as advocated by Mark Sisson, except for whey powder and a bit of cream. I aim for 80-90 g carb/day and advocate a two-month strict adjustment for newbies. But everybody is different and other need to tweak Primal to their own needs.

CarbDodger - Thanks for ranting, it's a good reminder how lucky we are to have found this site and learn together.

You are right; why does it have to take so long to share this info? Sometimes I think the Dr.'s are on rote and say the same mantra because they know their patients largely keep doing what they've always done and won't change.

You however have changed and proved that crap approach wrong! Wishing you the best and will be sharing your story with others....

Wow - I would be mad as hell if that happened to me or someone I knew.

I'm glad you found MDA/Low carb.

    Take care.
