Low white blood cell count. Could it be nutritional?

I'm just getting over a really terrible stomach bug which had me in bed for about a week. During this time I had absolutely no appetite, which is very unlike me. I couldn't get through more than a few bites of rice without needing to stop. My only protein during this time was a few eggs. A well-meaning friend also brought me juice which I had a glass or two of.

I took a blood test yesterday (for unrelated reasons) and today the doctor called to tell me that my white blood cell count was "alarmingly low". She said we'll retest in about a week to see if it normalizes, but in the meantime I'm wondering what I can do to help things along. Is it possible that the cause is my poor nutrition/low protein from the past week?

More likely a reaction to a virus. Stay in touch with your doc, chances are pretty good it will bounce back but stay on it.
