    Traveling with Bacon

    Primal Fuel
I'll be staying at a hotel this weekend and I want to bring some of my home cured bacon with me, I want to know the best way to cook or heat bacon in a microwave.

    1. Bring raw bacon and cook in microwave, I'll need instructions as I don't have a micro at home.

    2. Precook bacon and reheat in microwave.

Which do you think is best?

Cook at home and reheat. Crispy bacon should be able to last a day or two unrefrigerated.

I always cook at least one pack of bacon at a time so I don't have to cook it every day. So I vote for precook

If you precook it do you just zap it in the micro for a couple of seconds? I'll probably eat mine at room temp, but I think my son will want his hot.

Yeah, anything over 20 seconds is probably going to overcook it instead of warm it

Bring a roll of paper towels to absorb any grease that drips off as it heats.

Thanks for the input. It sounds like precooking is the way to go. I was thinking paper towels and paper plates would be a good idea.

Precook bacon. Let cool. In a double boiler, melt chocolate. Dip bacon in chocolate and sprinkle with your favorite salt. Let cool. Tell me you love me when you get home. LOL

I would pre cook it, then zap it for a few seconds. One strip probably 6 seconds, 2 strips 8 seconds, etc. Take a peek at the instructions for microwaving that store-purchased package of pre-cooked bacon (which I would NEVER buy), but the cooking instructions should be the same.

If you don't pre-cook it, you would need to get a contraption like this...

Stumbled into Primal due to food allergies, and subsequent elimination of non-primal foods.

Start Primal: March 2013, start weight 150lbs, Ladies size 6
    Current: 132lbs, Ladies size 2

26lbs lost since cutting the crap.
