    Keeping up fitness through injury

    Hey folks.

Broke a bone in my foot, which prohibits me from doing a lot of things, but wanted to know if folks had specific thoughts on keeping up fitness/weight maintenance during rehab. Can't run (intervals, sprints, etc.).

    Any thoughts?

Depending on how severe your restrictions are you could do:
intervals on an upright stationary bike,
    pool workouts,
upper body lifting circuits with little or no rest in between exercises.
    med ball throws
    sledge hammer work.

Damn, I totally sympathize. I broke 3 bones on my foot a week ago and I am off for some 2 months. What did you break? Are you on a cast?

I think diet might be even more important for injuries than exercise. You might be able to do kettlebell swings though. Depends if you can bear weight on your feet or not.

There is a strong inclination among the participants of this board for going barefoot. Going barefoot is fine and comfortable. However, I think that there are times and activities that call for footwear.

I am curious if all of these broken feet are due to strenuous activity while barefoot.

There is a reason why are ancestors developed footwear.

wow, gotta say ive never broken my foot. i have come close a few times where i slammed my foot into a rock or something while running, or in the door of the car. once my brother had hit foot run over while he was barefoot and it didnt break. so you guys must be doing some super crazy stuff to get your foot broken!
