Yes, it's a good wholesome smell out in the bush. We heard lots of birdlife too, though they are difficult to spot unless you are very patient and still.

Birdwatching is one of my absolute favourite pastimes! Smells are really important to me - I remember events a lot of times by the way things smelled. Like when I had measles and was in that hot dark room and my mom bought me a new doll - the smell of the material it was made from will take me straight back to that room with the royal blue velvet curtains and feeling as weak as a kitten!

I love the fact that you don't have snakes there! I might just have to move there!

Love the pics! I used to travel to NZ frequently, oh do I miss it! I wish I could emigrate.

Loving your pictures. Looking forward to seeing the summer version So very different to what we have here on the edge of a desert! (Though it can be beautiful too. The light here is amazing).

Hi Emma, Siobhan, Coll, thanks for dropping in and it's nice to know you enjoy my pix.

Today was very exciting, it was actually snowing during my tramp this morning. I can count on one hand the times I have experienced this in my life so this was very special, even more so because I had my daughter with me.

So I squeaked in my boots through the snow, following bunny paw prints down the track and ate snow and threw snowballs and touched icicles. So much fun. Also I think I saw a little native robin.

You can see the snowflakes in this one:

Oh, the snow almost made me tear up! I was talking to an ex who's renting from his ex and he said she'd rent me a room if I moved back to Oregon. I've tried to make a go of it in this unremitting heat, but spending three months a year primarily indoors is starting to get to me in a big way.

Also, I love black sweaters and I hardly ever get to wear them here.
