In my opinon milk and maple syrup is by most standards a much BETTER option than coffee and butter. I would only chose butter over maple syrup and milk if I was seriously starving and out of food in some artic place, for the slow burning energy of fat...

The only people that seriously eat butter by the stick are carbphobic ketophiles who think they're a part of some secret club. Bane's post about sugar is par for the course here ie; fucking ridiculous
Time is passing so quickly. Right now, I feel like complaining to Einstein. Whether time is slow or fast depends on perception. Relativity theory is so romantic. And so sad.

    "Eat real, nutrient-dense foods."

I'm surrounded by people that don't grasp that simple message.
Yes Choco, we've heard it before, many times, and it is always the place you run to when somebody calls you out on fallacies in your logical reasoning and your mis-use of terminology. As if anyone here were really advocating NOT eating real nutrient dense foods.

I guess I'm the idiot then, because I honestly can't see how you can compare a healthy fat to sugar. Saying how I don't think that's right is fucking ridiculous?

BTW, I never said I would put 400 calories worth of butter into a coffee, that's a number kid taco put up here. I'm usually good for a tablespoon or a little more in a big mug of coffee. It's a nice treat. I just don't see how you can say it's good to cook food in butter, but having some in a drink is being a lunatic.

I will agree that eating a whole stick of butter is kind of messed up. I wouldn't even be able to get it down (or if I did, it would probably come back up).

Your body turns excess sugar into healthy fats ^-^

Given the choice between a crappy CW sugar grain breakfast or a very fatty cup of coffee, I'd go for the coffee.
This all true. But I think what Choco's saying is that replacing meals with butter is not the best idea. Obviously a butter-coffee is better than some super-SAD meal, but eating veggies and eggs for breakfast would be better than eating butter.

I don't want to frighten or disturb anyone, but I just put cream and sugar in my coffee.

This is a fad diet and always will be because there is too many zealots. Somehow, the simple message of "eat real food" has been perverted and people that sit at a desk all day are drinking sticks of butter simply because it is a "fat" while sneering at the poor lady that put 2 teaspoons of sugar in her coffee simply because it is "sugar."
While I understand what you are saying and agree in most cases with this way of thinking; butter is an exception. Yes, it is true it does not 1) grow on a tree, nor does it 2) have legs, thus is an exception to everything else we eat. But...

There is logic. It's basically just animal fat. An animal made it from eating grass, we just captured it from the animal, grabbed the highest fat portion and made that into butter. It is still entirely from nature. Most primitive cultures eat foods like this (Eskimos dipped each bite of fish in seal oil for example, Swiss villagers ate a block of cheese for lunch, people cooked in lard/coconut/olive oil, etc). Prior to all this Paleolithic man ate the fattest portion of meat they could find. Butter is just a modern version of this natural drive humans have for finding concentrated fat sources, it's still natural, and darn healthy.

Part of the issue is perhaps hangups in American society about cream/butter being somehow bad.

These guys preach butter eating, and list the reasons why, and that's good enough for me:
Why Butter Is Better - Weston A Price Foundation

"Ethnic groups that do not use butter obtain the same nutrients from things like insects, organ meats, fish eggs and the fat of marine animals, food items most of us find repulsive. For Americans--who do not eat bugs or blubber--butter is not just better, it is essential."
