Just remembered reading it, I don't use protein powder much anymore.
Thank you for referring me back to that article. I have read it but forgot about that point. You just saved me money

I don't use whey that much either but I LOVE smoothies and enjoy adding whey once in a while.

Not grass fed, but this is GREAT value if you're on a budget:

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

I just checked it out and WOW! Look at those reviews! Absolutely incredible. 33 reviews and 31 are 5 stars. Simply amazing.

I just learned they have a few flavored versions... have you had them? Are they naturally flavored? I am going to go with the plain right now since I add it to smoothies, but I may try a flavored version in the future.

    Thanks!

I use the True Whey in my morning smoothies. I try to limit my smoothies to heavy lifting days only. I like that it is Whey Concentrate instead of Isolate and it has no added "stuff" except Stevia. The "contented cows" propaganda is why I bought it. Before that, I used EAS Protein almost exclusively, with occasional bouts of Optimal Nutrition Whey. So far, I like the way, True Whey feels in my system. I realize it may be psychosomatic, but I can afford it...so I will most likely keep using it.

I can't really tell you about the flavored ones as I've only bought the one I linked to. It goes a long way when you buy the 10lb bag! What I like to do is have a PWO shake with 2/3c of that whey, a banana (or two if it was a particularily heavy day), a little powdered kelp, a pinch of glutamine, and some cocoa nibs pulsed into a powder. Great flavor and really helps with recovery. If my fat is particularly low for the day, I'll also add in some coconut milk. YUM!

I order Whey from TrueProtein.com, they're in Southern CA. I like their stuff, it's inexpensive (under $5 per Lbs of Whey Concentrate 77-80%). Pretty good customer support. Their web form lets you add flavoring, additional supplements and choose packaging. And I've found online coupons rather easily.

Here's something that a lot of people outside the supplement industry don't know- most whey is crap! It's overprocessed and from poor-quality milk. Think about it- unless specified, most whey is going to contain traces of growth hormones and pesticides. No thanks!

That's why there are more companies coming out with higher-quality undenatured whey from quality dairy sources. The Primal lifestyle is, after all, supposed to be about whole, quality foods, so if you want whey, you might as well get the good stuff.

True Whey is undenatured and un-isolated, so I give it a huge thumbs up! Plus, it tastes good:-) It's worth the extra $$ but you can find it discounted at iHerb and Vitacost.
My second choice would be Natural Factors, which is a mix of undenatured concentrate and regular isolate. It also tastes good. Dr. Mercola has some undenatured whey he's hawking now.

I like Mt Capra Caprotein, which is a concentrated goat's milk protein powder. It doesn't taste as good as whey, but I like how I feel on it and I do better with goat than cow dairy.

If I could afford to pay $20+/lb for "better" whey I definitely would, but I'm on a very restricted college-budget and the extra money I come across is much better spent on quality, grassfed beef and tallow. This is especially considering I don't take more than 3 protein shakes in any given week, but I eat beef nearly on a daily basis.

The Natural Factors is only 12 bucks at Vitacost (it also comes in other flavors): http://www.vitacost.com/Natural-Fact...ors-Unflavored
