How to tell if a purple potato is bad? page

I bought some from whole foods. Says they're from California. They are starting to smell like seafood. No sprouts, when I cut it open it's still juicy and purple. The outside has a little brown discoloration but it seems normal.

Just that smell.... I don't know if it's natural or meaning it's bad. Anyone have any experience with these things?

If it smells "rotten"..... good bet that it is.... potatos should not be soft when they are raw.... a soft smelly potato is a rotten potato
