When I drank coffee, way back when, it was always with cream, no sugar. At home it was always heavy cream. I couldn't have choked down sweetened coffee at all. It's very much an individual taste.
For the record, my problems with sugars were refined sweets specific. As I mentioned, I was not discussing naturally occurring sugars in fruit, or honey, or syrup out of a tree. :P I don't know why I feel the need to clarify that, but yeah.
Black coffee is fuckin' disgusting, and not even good for you to drink. I've tried every single coffee imaginable, and they're all bad black. Coffee is the most amazing substance in the world, but it needs cream and sugar as a compliment. Not one without the other.
My grandpa, the smartest man I've ever known(he was a lot like my internet grandpa, Ray Peat, actually), told me when I sat down for my first ever coffee "son, I better never catch you drinking coffee black."
Thank you, grandpa, your words of wisdom will be carried with me and passed on through my future generations.
Tired eyes, like our tired lives
Derp, I'm with you on the cream part. You lose me with the sugar though. Sugar just masks the awesome, good quality coffee flavor.
Echoes the quote I read somewhere on theis journey, maybe Lustig, "even dog shit tastes good if you put enough sugar in it"
Why not just have a spoon of cream to kick off the day?
