Giving up the Dairy and Peanut butter

    Primal Fuel
Ok, I know for a fact that dairy makes me congested and makes tons of mucus in my nose and throat and I often get a small rash after eating peanut butter. I know I should probably gives these up, but I feel resistance in myself about giving them up because they are the last, "vices". It was easy to give up grain and sugar, but it is harder to give these up. I need pointers. What is a vice you gave up and what was your strategy?

It's not so much giving up vices as it is changing what your vices are. My vices now are dark chocolate and wine, with the occasional gluten-free baked good. But since you get bad reactions from dairy and from PB, then it'll be much easier to just give them up because you'll know you'll feel crappy when you indulge.

Try replacing the PB and Dairy with organic 90% Dark chocolate (or as close as you can get). Two pieces of that isn't nearly as many calories of nut butters and dairy and it's self limiting because it's rich.

Also, just take your dairy and PB out of your kitchen. Don't bring them anywhere near you..it cuts out temptation

Sounds like you have a mild peanut allergy, maybe?
Good reason to give it up... allergies can worsen over time.

Barney Butter is a great one with excellent peanut-butter consistency (not grainy at all like maranatha or some of the other brands on the market)
    Justin's is yummy too.

Let me just say, I love peanut butter so I was afraid to give it up. So, I grabbed some almond butter. Yea, I'd rather have nothing than try to choke down almond butter ever again. Blech.

A lot of nuts give me problems. The jury is still out on almonds.

I felt that way until I tried Barney Butter. I still love peanut butter and choose it most of the time, but I don't mind Barney Butter every now and then (and Justin's chocolate hazelnut butter is a real treat as well)

Eek! That sucks. I don't think I've tasted a nut butter I didn't like. Not keen on tahini or sesame seed butter though.

Peanut butter is definitely my vice, not the good stuff, I mean Skippy and Jif, the stuff with added sugar and salt and palm oil and hydrogenated fats. I just don't buy it anymore because I can and will eat half a jar before I know it, with my eyed glazed over and a milk mustache on my upper lips standing in front of the fridge. It's like crack.
