    I haven't been around for awhile, and via browsing last night came across this thread, and this link you posted - FASCINATING reading to say the least. I have NEVER been able to eat such low calories as CW recommends for me to lose fat.... I seem to have a broken "stop eating" signal, which I attribute to years of yo-yo dieting in my 20s... the starve/binge cycle he talks about in many of those articles you linked thru.

    Is this what you are trying? Eating a much higher number of calories? My BMR for my desired weight at light activity level would be 2250/day + (and at my current weight around 2550)

    Also I'm nursing a 3 year old twice/day and under a lot of stress... I can easily eat that much though, and days that I feel I overate, then I try not to eat all day and it's turning into the same cycle... I don't want to be modelling this to my daughter, so I've got to figure out a way to heal my relationship with food - my body - and my mind...

    The past week I've been experimenting with the whole bulletproof coffee intermittent fast thing, nothing but coffee with lots of butter and/or coconut oil until 1 or 2pm then eating as desired until around 8pm. I felt pretty darn good doing it this past week, it's a LOT LOT of fat and calories, definitely I ate more than 2500 per day, carbs low though and lost a bit inch wise...

    I'm going to continue this week again, but am certainly ready to try doing things differently. I can't be ravenous and thinking about food constantly if I am going to live successfully, raise a child to be healthy and strong as a single parent etc!!!

    So are you feeling like you are eating a surplus already and therefore have been unknowingly following this way and it's not working for you? How to do feel about the quantity? When you finish eating is it because that feels like enough and you don''t NEED more, or feeling slightly full, or that was so much food and I can't take another bite?

    Yes, that is what I'm doing. I'm absolutely busting at the seams. Once my temperature is up I will cut back to just eating as much as I want without the stuffing part.

    Keep us/me posted on your progress. I think it is great you are doing this, especially when nursing. Your body gives so much during pregnancy and nursing.

    This is all so liberating for our relationships with food, mental and emotional stress of trying to improve our bodies. It opens up room for more important things to focus on. It is certainly a wonderful thing to be able to raise our children with this knowledge and model healthy eating both in what we eat but also how.

    This is some interesting stuff. I totally want to eat 4,000 cals a day and "reset" myself, but scared to (I've already put back on all the weight I lost). I can easily put away 1000 cals at breakfast and be ready for lunch pretty soon after. Breastfeeding doesn't help either. I'm still hungry after eating 2,000-2,400 cals in a day!

    There is a local author who's name I can't recall, who has written many books. Back in the 90's in one book she recommended that if M&M's were a problem, to fill a pillowcase and eat freely until the huge craving would go away. Me? I'm a hardcore sugar junkie. I would have eaten them, then filled it over and over. I denied myself all sugar for many years. Now eating primally I am able to eat my fill of 72%+ organic chocolate. It's never very much as I am so much more easily satisfied. I am still staying away from primal "dessert" type treats as I have another 5-10 pounds of fat to shed. Treats and shedding fat don't appear to go together for me personally.

    I love reading this thread and am trying to mentally allow myself to shift my calorie range from 1000-1200 to 1200-1500. It's tough after 55 years of CW and low carb dieting where I though calories should be 1000 or less.

    I eat this way because I want to make progress lifting weights. The only thing not working is that I know better that I shouldn't eat so much chocolate, vegan desserts and wine and that maybe I wouldn't be so fat if I just stuck purely with meat, veggies and potatoes in unlimited quantity.

    I have gained a lot of muscle, and maybe a little fat since starting to lift weights. My waist is about the same as before lifting but my legs and shoulders are bigger and my spine is now deeply embedded in my back with these big meaty muscles on the sides of my spine. It surprised me to feel that the other day. My boyfriend was rubbing my back and he noticed it with me not saying anything.

    How I feel about the quantity? I feel fine. Not stuffed at all. I often wish there was more to eat. But when lunch or dinner rolls around sometimes I think to myself ugh, no more meat okay? Then I start to get hungry and I don't care how much meat it is I'll eat it and more if I can.

    I'm going to try to not consume so much naughty stuff this week and see what happens. I hurt myself lifting weights last week so I can't go as heavy. But I can do lots of volume.

    Ditto, too much wine and chocolate for me as well.

    On the whole heavy lifting thing - do you guys think I can achieve the same results with the bodyweight stuff like pull ups and squats and stuff at home, or do I have to join a gym and start the dead lifts and all that? Maybe I could do it at the Y at lunch...

    I love this thread. Makes me feel like I'm not the only one with this constant struggle to accept how I look, yet want to get off the vanity pounds, and not want to religiously monitor every morsel that goes in my mouth yet not eat too much and not too little. It's crazy making!
