    Working Out & TOM

    Primal Fuel
I've read in multiple places that doing exercise during TOM can ease cramps and elevate/regulate mood. I was supposed to do either a cardio session or a weight training session today, but I felt horrible when I woke up, with intense cramping, back pains, the works. I took two Advil ( I hate taking them, but I was just miserable) and did some work around the house, but I still couldn't bring myself to go to the gym. I'm still considering trying yoga tonight.

Ladies, during your TOM, do you still stick with your regular exercise regime? Do you take it easy, go harder? Also, what relieves your cramping that is also Primal? I'm so desperate here, i haven't experienced anything this bad since my early teens. A long bout of amenorrhea has finished and unfortunately, I've been having constant spotting and periods for nearly the whole year. (That's not related to the fitness question, but I just thought I might throw that in there for anyone who could help me out with a solution, although I don't expect it.)

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Yes, I do my regular exercise regime, which is usually weight lifting. I think the cramping is partially caused by a bad posture, and exercising helps with you doing the correct posture.

Congrats on getting your period back, though If anything, I would think the cramping would die down as your period readjusts to coming back again.

Ok here's a little tip I learned that works for me, to help ease cramps and speed up that TOM. Keep a (waterproof) toy in the shower, and in the morning (or night, or both), have an orgasm. Really, it helps.

And even if it's just placebo effect, who could ask for a better placebo?

I never let my period stop me from exercising. Last month I did two spinning classes while on my period. This weekend I had my period and went swimming and did yoga.

I don't find it to necessarily be amazing or soothingor do anything for cramps/discomfort, other than take my mind off of it because I'm busy.

My cramping hasreally diminished with eatin primal. I used to throw up once a month but now don't need amything! You'll need to give your body time to adjust to the new nutrients.

In the meantime I would try to go for a long walk. It'll get your blood flowing. Then as you feel better you can get back to your usual regimine with no breaks.

I've only had one TOM since starting primal and even my boyfriend noticed how much less pain I was in. Praying that that continues.

My go-to is the hottest bath I can stand. That is the ONLY thing that reliably works.

Orgasm is second. It works for a few minutes. Then you have to have another one.

Also, tampons make it worse. Use pads if it's really bad. Hopefully not TMI.
