I'm a guy here, but a friend showed me an accupressure point that really helped my daughters and wife with cramps. It's a point on the flat surface of the shin bone about halfway between knee and ankle. Explore the area with thumb until you find a place that hurts. Rub it pretty hard with small circular motion for a minute to 90 seconds. It can really get their attention! But after that, the cramps were a lot better and sometimes it ended them for the whole period. I remember "treating" one of my daughter's friends in the Cross Country tent for a high school track meet and it worked great.
I suppose you could say both- LOL!
But yes... this...
Is what I meant.
My period usually lasted about 5-6 days. Now I'm on the short side of 4 days, and only one is actually heavy bleeding. It quickly diminishes after the first day.

I've had proper cramps for the first time in 4 months (first continual ones since going Primal) this week.Been trying out different grains and legumes, though, so it's unsurprising my body wasn't happy.
Whenever I used to get them (and when my period started this month), I do some more walking, yoga and situps. Really relaxes the muscles. No more cramps at the moment, yay!
I rarely talk to people about Paleo/Primal, but, when I do, it's when they're NOT complaining about their weight or health.
You see, I don't really "do" pity. And one thing I've learned about people is that they're more open to suggestion when they're happy and stable. When they complain they only ever want pity, not to be advised.

I have tried the ones I've read about on the hand and on the foot, and neither worked worth a swish. But this is a new one I haven't heard of! And if it worked for a high schooler...? I am trying this.
Exercise has never helped me at all. Whether all month, or right before during PMS, or during. Actually if it's not warm enough outside it makes them worse.
Exercise does help with cramps and aches, but the first day of my special lady friend's visit, I'm always bone-tired like a truck hit me and can't bring myself to work out.
I did notice that cutting out dairy helped reduce cramps and bloating around my TOM. And it seems that doing more cardio-based workouts, rather than weights, help more with cramps. One thing I don't like doing during that time is heavy squats. It already feels like I'm pushing out an invisible baby, I don't need to put my body in the anatomically correct position to help it along.![]()

Have you tried having more water and carbs a day or so before it's due? The tiredness sounds like what I get. The bleedng's quite heavy at first, then it calms, but if I don't get a little more sugar in, I tire easily. The extra water is just logic, as I'm usually JUST hydrated enough, often under-hydrated, and fluid-loss could push me into dehydration.![]()
