Agree. A brilliant mind is incredibly sexy.

I stand at work, but only for half the day, I sit the other half. Sitting annoys the piss out of me, but standing all day does too so this is a nice compromise for me. I sit on the trains when I commute, and unless I'm working out, I also sit in my spare time most often than not. I find that standing half the day at work is relatively easy, makes me more prone to walks around the office and just gives me some peace of mind so to speak about sitting at other times.

I feel you entirely on the BAS. I NEVER make salads, I almost always cook my veggies. If I'm eating a salad, I mostly likely paid for it, and only because it sounded too awesome to pass up - and of course it's got some meat on it.

Losing body fat to me is more a consequence of my training and eating style. I've never been under 10% but I'm always on/off with working on it - right now I'm on, so trying to watch what I eat a little bit more. I don't make it my everything, and it's not really THE goal, like I said - it seems to correlate with how I'm doing in the gym and with my food. I don't want to have sub 10% BF from being on the elliptical or some shit, but if it comes as a result of gaining strength then I welcome it.

Sounds like Alexander Technique, another posture philosophy. I haven't tried it, but the pictures of correct positioning look great.

Ditto on the salads. I don't mind the taste, but salads are just too much work to wash and cut up. And flat leaves and forks don't get along. A few people here stand at work, but I don't see much reason for it.

MY PRIMAL: I (try to) follow by-the-book primal as advocated by Mark Sisson, except for whey powder and a bit of cream. I aim for 80-90 g carb/day and advocate a two-month strict adjustment for newbies. But everybody is different and other need to tweak Primal to their own needs.

However, I break from PB on a few areas.

    1. Standing -- I understand the risks of sedentary desk jobs. But standing, IMO, is not a good solution. Why? Well, because I hate it. It reminds me of Mass. And when would Grok just stand there? He'd walk, sprint, dance, lie, sit, swim. Mark has written about people in pre-industrial cultures squatting. I think he's on to something there. But standing? Bah.
I've put together a little mini-workout that I do every hour on the hour to fool my body into thinking I work a job where I regularly do heavy lifting, push stuff, raise my heart rate, and stretch to reach.

Thought of another one that I question: total darkness for sleep. What's the ancestral rationale at work here? I understand keeping the electronic blue light to a minimum. But keeping out moonlight?

If you're saying what I think you're saying, I have to say I've been guilty of this.

I've only seen this one in the context of achieving better sleep based on melatonin production -- not much to do with ancestral this or that.

Though, you're assuming incorrectly that people slept outside all the time. What if they were in a cave? That shit would be pretty dark, unless there was a fire of sorts going for either protection or warmth. Still, I think this one has more to do with turning the stupid TV off, or not sleeping with unnecessary lights - especially if you have issues sleeping.

I used to do this at my last job. Dips and L-sit holds mostly. 10 dips, 10 second L-sit hold was my usual post-pee workout.

And I don't think city folk realize just how "hand in front of your face" dark it is out in the middle of nowhere when the moon is barely a sliver.
