    Beef Spare rib rub or marinade

    So I love beef spare ribs but I am no cook. Right now I am just rubbing pepper, salt, paprika, cayenne pepper and ginger into them but I am looking for alternatives.

    What sort of rubs or marinades do you all use? I'm guessing what works for other cuts of beef would work for spare ribs.


    P.S. What we in Aus call beef spare rib may have a different name elsewhere.

    I don't use a rub on beef ribs, since the wet cooking methods I use on them would just wash it away. I usually slow cook them in a crockpot or dutch oven.

    There are lots of barbecue cookbooks out that have some fabulous rubs in them. Paul Kirk has a great one out, though he uses alot of brown sugar in his recipes. It would be fairly easy to adapt them to be sugarless. The spices that you mentioned are a great start for a rub base. I pretty much just use salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, paprika on most of the steaks, chops, chicken breast that I barbecue.
