Angry Australian Heart Foundation - 2013 dietary guidelines release. Oh dear...

"The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) today released the 2013 revision of the Australian Dietary Guidelines, which now distinguishes between ‘good’ fats (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats) and ‘bad’ fats (saturated and trans fats)."

    Low fat message out

    Oh dear.

On the good news side, at least they've stopped saying that all fat is evil. They're saying it's OK to eat avocado, nut butter and fish. This is good. But then shoot themselves in the foot by saying to eat up on the canola oil and stop eating butter, cream and coconut. Oh, and of course they recommend you eat up all those healthy whole grains. Crumpets with margarine recommended for kids snacks. Better than chips and Coke I suppose?

At least that leaves more on the shelves for me. Pass the bacon would you?

Consider protective values of CoQ10, VitC, Omega 3 & 6, Tocotrienols, D3. Most Mds know !!! about preventive nutrition.
Heart disease is caused more from inflamation than cholestrol is a seriously researched issue now, but the pharmaceuticals aren't paying for that research.....our grain fed foods and veg are missing the natural ingredients they once had. Lots of luck calculating this out.
