Exclamation Has anyone here ever gotten food poisoning?

    Primal Fuel
I bought some chicken at a local, organic food market, and it sat in the fridge for maybe 36 hours, it was neee frozen. There was a "sell by" date on it and I cooked it the day after... But a sell-by is not an expiration date! So I ate a chicken breast, skin too. It was pretty good, but a few hours later I felt kinda gross. I wasn't hungry after getting home at 3am and I definitely was not hungry when I woke up today. I feel disgusting and I think it was the chicken!
Do I need to go to the dr? Should I just take it easy? This sucks

If you're not uncontrollably puking up your guts or sitting
on the toilet all day, you're fine, just ride out the disgusting
    feeling.

Sell by date is always before the use by date.. Usually 1-3 days for fresh meat. & expiration dates are usually a couple days before they would expect it to be dodgy.. so normally it should have been safe enough.. that is assuming it was stored properly etc etc (my hubby kept getting food poisoning only to find out the shop he was getting his milk from was leaving it out of the case "till they got around to it")

Ive had food poisoning, worst case was like having the worst flu ever.. dident go to the dr. just drank a lot of water & slept it off.. oh and threw up a lot.. & Milder case that just made me feel kinda sick to my stomach. (note to self.. dont eat SIL's food again)
Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

    just vomit...
"Ah, those endless forests, and their horror-haunted gloom! For what eternities have I wandered through them, a timid, hunted creature, starting at the least sound, frightened of my own shadow, keyed-up, ever alert and vigilant, ready on the instant to dash away in mad flight for my life. For I was the prey of all manner of fierce life that dwelt in the forest, and it was in ecstasies of fear that I fled before the hunting monsters."

    Maybe it wasn't cooked enough...
I've had food poisoning once, few years ago. It was from food at a mexican restaurant. I know that's how I got it because everyone else who was at that party got it too.
For 2 days I thought I was gonna die. I didn't go to the doctor though.

I've eaten properly "gone" meat and veg before. Sometimes got food poisoning, usually not (tough gut).
Last time I got food poisoning it was from veg, believe it or not.

Ride it through, eat plenty of meat, starchy/fibrous fruit and leafy veg, cut back on juicy fruit and dairy. No chili or highly acidic fruit. When your body starts recovering (there may be poop and vomit first), put in live yoghurt and sour cream, with lotsa vegetation and the odd fermented food to replenish and rebalance bacteria.
I rarely talk to people about Paleo/Primal, but, when I do, it's when they're NOT complaining about their weight or health.

You see, I don't really "do" pity. And one thing I've learned about people is that they're more open to suggestion when they're happy and stable. When they complain they only ever want pity, not to be advised.

I've had this happen with pastured pork (!!!) from an organic grocery, they had country style ribs on sale for super cheap. (In hindsight I bet that was a red flag--it was likely marked down because it was about to go off) I figured that if I just bought it I didn't need to cook it that very day, bad call. I threw it in the crockpot the next day, it was a little slimy but didn't smell bad. The whole family ended up vying for the bathrooms for a day. Now I'm really careful with chicken and pork in particular--I freeze it the moment I get home if I'm not going to cook it right then.

When I last had food poisoning from vegetarian "chicken nuggets" I was shaking with chills, suffering from severe stomach cramps, and puking my guts out. Your symptoms don't seem that bad...yet.

Like any time you're sick, just ride it out unless it gets serious - if you can't keep anything down or constant diarhea, you'll need an IV to replenish your fluids.

And I'm probably going to be vilified for this, but I was taught, in food safety in the food industry, that food poisoning takes about 24 hours to show up. So if you started feeling sick "a few hours later", it's unlikely to be food poisoning. Most people think it's food poisoning because it's the last thing they ate, or they can "taste it" again (which is pretty obvious, since it's the last thing you ate...). But anyways, if you think it is, you can definitely contact your government food safety agency:

In the US - Report a Problem with Food | FoodSafety.gov

In Canada - Canadian Food Inspection Agency - Consumer Centre - Report a Food Safety or Labelling Concern
