Life after a type 2 diagnosis??

    Hello fellow followers.

I have recently persuaded my doubting husband to follow me on the primal quest since he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at the end of 2012. He has jumped in with both feet and within 3 weeks his sugar level dropped from 21.5 to 11 and his cholesterol is down from 8.5 to 4.5.

Our big questions to all you who are far ahead on the journey are:-

    1. Can he expect to be able to stop taking his meds if he stays true to the path?
    2. He has a lot of pain in his feet due to nerve damage - will this ever be reversed?

We look forward to hearing from our Primal Pals

So much will depend on how bad the damage is. If he still has a partially functioning pancreas there is a chance he may be able to get off the meds if he is very strict.
There are a number of small studies out there showing the benefits of low-carb eating.
A low-carbohydrate, ketogenic diet to treat type 2 diabetes
    Effect of a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet on ... [Diabetes. 2004] - PubMed - NCBI
Effect of a low-carbohydrate diet on appetite... [Ann Intern Med. 2005] - PubMed - NCBI

Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.
