Good! And what would give you the most independence? From what you just mentioned, it sounds like a mode of transport? Did you ever used to drive / cycle? If so, then maybe the way of broaching it is that you miss driving / cycling? Or that you hate getting annoyed about waiting for him, and you've tried to change but it's just the way you are, and to reduce your own stress you would feel better with a mode of transport? Make it be about you, not him.
