I read here (not in this thread but at MDA - in the forums) that it's common to develop magnesium deficiency when in NK. When I started taking 5-htp I stopped taking magnesium (I used magnesium to sleep, but it was making me so danged groggy in the AM that when I started using 5-htp, I stopped the magnesium, thinking it wouldn't be necessary anymore). After I found the thread on magnesium deficiency in NK, I started taking it again. I'll continue to take it and do 250 in am and 250 in pm and see what happens. I'm mildly worried that the cardiac events are the result of adding vitex and 5-htp to my regimen, but I don't want to stop taking them just yet. The 5-htp keeps me from turning into a fire breathing dragon (instead I'm a surly bear awaken from hibernation early) and the vitex is supposed to help me want sex again (this I believe is the direct result of antidepressants, weight gain and birth control use - since the anti-depressants are gone, birth control is gone and the weight is receding and nothing's changing, I figured my hormones must be totally out of whack and a little help boosting progesterone would help. Vitex has been used for centuries to help women with libido and is supposed to be side-effect free).

Anyhow, back to class... hehehehe we're supposed to be working on our thesis papers.

WEll, I guess there's an upside to going to the doctor and complaining about not losing weight. Just found out I tested positive for antinuclear antibodies which means some sort of autoimmune response going on. Google has helped me narrow it down to Sjogrens' Sydrome or lupus. I've had a headache since the first of Jan, and some muscle aches and pains and just generally have been feeling like something the cat toyed with all night then left on the doorstep at dawn....Anyway, I'm off the Efexor as of today, getting a referral to a rhuematologist, and generally trying to get my head around this new fun worry. I've been trying to lose since August, then really went hardcore on Jan 1st with the LCHF and weighing, measuring, hitting macros etc...then got a FitBit on Jan 13 and began to be less of a couch potato. In all that time, not an ounce was lost. I've been boinging around between 107.4 kilos/109kilos. Not. An. Ounce. Or a gram, for that matter. And just for the record, I've had that weird heart arrythmia too on the low-carb. Doc even sent me for a stress test when I mentioned it.

Thanks Pebbles! I was mostly worried about the possibility of heart disease as my dad has it. So it was a relief to hear it might "only" be autoimmune. I know that's all manageable with medication and diet. I've had a look on Google and wondered if celiac would fall under that particular umbrella, too. I guess I'll be finding out!

Shelli, I wonder if magnesium would help your arrhythmia as well. It's amazing how quickly it's been working for me.

Ok, it's really late (11 pm) so I MUST get to bed. Class keeps me up late every stinking time. Class again tomorrow night. But I'm so close to being done for good that I don't mind the 2 nights a week classes. 11 weeks til graduation!!

Jenn, I should get another bottle. I took cal/mag/D a couple years ago when I had frozen shoulder, and I've started getting wicked nighttime leg and foot cramps and it should help. Thanks for the reminder!

Day 1 of my 3 day Fat Fast & IF n=1

    Start Weight: 176lb BMI: 28.27 BF: 40.9% Water: 41.9% LBM: 55.6%

Planned: Cals 1014 Ratio 8-3-89 Actual: Cals 1014 Ratio 8-3-89 Sleep 4hr15 loo break 3h felt tired still when I woke up so laid in bed snoozing for 30min

    Menu:
Cream Cheese Pancakes – 2 egg yolks, 5g unsalted butter, 2oz full fat cream cheese
Hot Chocolate with 2 tbsp double cream
Cream Double Extra Thick 30ml (3 heaped tsp)
Chicken & Mush Soup using homemade stock with 20g unsalted butter
    Coconut Oil 25g

Exercise: Took dog for 30min walk (had the energy to do more but don’t want to shake the shoulder about)

    Weight: -2 174lb BMI: 28.03 BF:41% Water: 41.9% LBM 56.0%

Very pleased with myself for sticking to the menu. Started eating at 9:30, finished at 17:00 feed window 7:30. Ended up eating most of it in the morning then hung on til late pm before eating the soup with butter. Felt hungry just before bed at 11:30 but it was not terrible & didn't keep me awake. Not particularly hungry when I woke up. Will happily wait until 9:30 before eating again.First time in a 2 weeks I didn't use painkillers when going to bed (could just be a coincidence).

Have lost the 2lb I gained last week. Unfortunately most of that is the 1.5 lb LBM I also gained last week + 0.5lb BF. This is what I was worried about with such low protein levels. Still will see it through to the end of the 3 days as am a third of the way in & I wont need to do it again if I'm right & no significant BF is lost.
