Interested to see the fruitarian comments build on these posts. No real details provided on what Kushton's diet consisted of or for how long he'd been eating that way, which is a shame. Typical crap "journalism".

Doubtful that it was fruit that put him in the hospital.
Also you wont find any studies done using fruit as the only source of fructose so there is no real connection.
That guy is such a....... I believe the word is....... douche.
This is mean, but:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA *breath* HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
Dumb ol' Ashton Kutcher. Couldn't have happened to a bigger d-bag.
On a more analytical note, why do we think it put him in the hospital? Lack of nutrients/protein? Too much fructose (that seems unlikely... I mean, it's bad for you, but it's not THAT bad)?

Without bothering to present any links as evidence, vitamin B12 deficiency is what happens to people that go on the fruitarian diet. Without constant supplementation B12 injections may be required from what I understand. Go to 30BAD if you really want to know about the fruit people.
Sounds like a publicity stunt. I don't think fruitarian diets are smart long term, but it takes quite a while to deplete your b12 levels.
So much info missing from this story. People go on all fruit or juice diets all the time but there isn't a lot of incidences of pancreatic problems THAT quickly, to the best of my knowledge. Perhaps it was psychosomatic or induced subconsciously while trying to become a character. Shrug. This is just weird. We're omnivores, so all fruit diets are not adequate, but yeah... Something is fishy.
Of course the Paleo community will use this as a reason to shun fruit completely, lol. J/k sorta...
