Looking for Sterols and Stanols in all the wrong places
The food industry is so concerned about our cholesterol levels they want us all to start eating "heart healthy" granola bars, "Heartwise" orange juice, Orowheat bread, Benecol, and Take Control (margarine-like spreads) because these are fortified with sterols and stanols. Supposedly these foods will lower our LDL levels. What would you tell a friend who was considering consuming these products?
As far as I'm concerned; the "heartwise" "heart healthy" orange juice; is just a bucket of diabetes inducing sugar. Worse than a coca cola. And thats NOT good for your heart.
I don't know what half those foods are, but for the granola bars, I'd find a candy bar and do a side by side of the nutrition label.
People are either going to believe CW, or they're not. If I would have tried to convince my grandmother that the government or her doctor were giving her misinformation, she would have just thought I was being "her little rebel," and ignored me. No matter how often our "leaders" are caught with their hands in the cookie jar, some people believe that when it comes to health, the govt recommendations are pure as the driven snow.

Who says back fat is a bad thing? Maybe on a hairy guy at the beach, but not on a crab.
