    Free nutritionist visit...

So, I just found out that I can see a registered dietitian for free at my university, basically as often as I want (it's paid for, along with various other basic medical procedures with my semester fees). I have lost 30 pounds since Thanksgiving using primal, heavily geared towards fats....the asshole in me wants to go to make an appointment, especially since you have to fill out a food and health survey before hand...then go in for the followups, completely ignoring their advice and continuing to lose weight...

So obviously, I'm an asshole. I came to terms with this years ago. But, I mean, I've already paid for this with my student fees....might as well take advantage of it, right? haha I mean, I'm getting a full metabolic panel done since it's "free"...

What do you all think? Worth the shits and giggles?

Definitely. I do this at my workplace, the hospital. It's hilarious.
Steak, eggs, potatoes - fruits, nuts, berries and forage. Coconut milk and potent herbs and spices. Tea instead of coffee now and teeny amounts of kelp daily. Let's see how this does! Not really had dairy much, and gut seems better for it.

I'd totally do it too. Go in prepared with some literature/research about primal/paleo and have a frank discussion with the dietician about it. You might be suprised at the reaction and it might be a chance to proove to them that there is some validity in this way of eating - particularly if you have the results and the science to support it.

+1 Lizzielou. I would do it just to see what my panels are and to prove them wrong. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

Especially Tom, this nurse who thinks bacon is killing me. He's pissed that my HDL is higher than his.

Please share more stories about this. You have such a way with words. I would totally go visit the nutritionist if it was available to me with the blood tests and everything and if I thought I could be smug about my cholesterol. Somehow I'm pretty sure my cholesterol is well over 300 eating even as low in fat as I do (buckets more fish than any kind of terrestrial animal) and that I'd only serve to prove them all right.

Tempting, but I'd be afraid of coming across as a preachy asshole. Kinda the way I feel when vegans talk to me. Don't be like a vegan!

Why? If they give free rectal exams, would you go? It's pointless given what we believe on MDA.
