Just wondering because I was slugging back MCT oil first thing in the am, for about a week, and noticed that I was not sleeping much at all. I had the whole restless leg thing going on, couldn't relax etc.....
It started the day that I took my first morning MCT oil, and stopped the day after I finished.
    Anyway - just a thought
I don't take MCT oil, but I do cook with coconut oil almost every day. I hope the coconut oil isn't contributing to this, I love the stuff dearly!

1 or 2 tsp peanut butter before bed works for me (almond butter works too)

Sounds like you'd really benefit from red light therapy then, because it looks to correct seasonal affective disorders in sleep. Lack of correct light during winter can raise stress mediators and mess with sleep.

Young children can seemingly sleep through anything because of optimal body temperature, low stress and high metabolism.

I would take 2 pills and see how you feel in 30 min. It never "knocked me out" like an Ambien CR but it did help to get me ready for some sleep. I don't know about the tea as that to me is in a category of no way.

Are you kidding? I wish I were a night owl. Then I don't start losing energy at the bar/club when it's only 11pm -.-
Waking up at 6am on the weekends automatically isn't the most ideal for me, either.

I wish I could go to clubs instead of dragging my ass to a job every day.

This is a new one... "I have too much energy!"

LOL. Do you know how many people take medications, caffeine supplements, etc to be where you are naturally now? Congratulations! Having this much energy is a gift that should be exploited. I understand that you'd rather just crash - but c'mon -- you should appreciate the situation as a GOOD THING.

I would recommend more exercise during the day. Put that energy to active, physical use by lifting weights inside (I know Maine is cold), doing sprints, etc. Personally exercising in the evenings keeps me up later, but if in the mornings by the time my head hits the pillow I am asleep in about 20 seconds.

I've had some pretty big success cutting out artificial light after sundown. I use candles to light my apartment, turn off the tv (except when I'm using my desktop, which is hooked into the tv, for Netflix (tv with f.lux )), and dim my laptop screen. It's done wonders in getting me sleepy for bed time (around 10:30ish).
