Groan. Sorry guys, I couldn't help it.

Eating primal is not a diet, it is a way of life.

Speaking of junk, have you guys seen the new Crossfit-marketed Fitaid drink that they market is "Paleo-friendly"

I asked for their full nutritional label and also if their "blue agave" they sweeten it with is essentially agave nectar and what the fructose content was. No response.

I love my father, I truly do. He's trying to lose weight and get healthy and such, for which I applaud him. I went to Dallas and stayed with them for a few days during a family event. Apparently, my father's knowledge of healthy stopped around the time I was born in '85. Low fat all the way, with minimal saturated fat. He knows that I do Primal, so he adapted some of it (butter and olive oil, no pasta, extra veggies.) It's good he's watching his health, and it's better that he knows he needs at least a little fat, but it still hurts to watch him take the bad path after he's seen the primal path work so well for me.

    Speaking of dads..

My dad just emailed me the other day saying he's bummed out because his weight loss has stalled. He's been doing Atkins. Which I guess is nice because we're on the same page w/r/t macronutrients. But he's also eating such wonderful things as: diet coke, Atkins-approved candy, chocolate soy milk, pre-cooked bacon, those cardboard boxes full of bargain burger patties, etc.

I realize that he has lost 30lbs, and this is a huge improvement from how he used to eat, if you can believe it.. But it is so hard to bite my tongue sometimes when all I want to do is scream "OF COURSE YOU STOPPED LOSING WEIGHT, YOU'RE STILL EATING POISON....."

Ugh, I remember those stupid Atkins bars and drinking mass quantities of caffeine free diet Coke.

Now, even when I completely fall of the wagon and get run over by the wheels, I STILL won't eat that crap.

Not at all what Dr Atkins had in mind back in the day.

naidaknight--I know exactly what you mean: my 77 year-old mother (who has actually been active and is in pretty good shape) still adheres to the 80s ideal of low or no-fat, lots and lots of fiber, etc. I would never try and supervise what she eats, but I know if we lived closer it would be a struggle to get her to see a different WOE.
