I like white rice and have it occasionally, my main problem with it is the nutritional value, as in the total lack of it.
Do what you love and do it often. If you don't like something, change it. if you don't like your job, quit. If you don't have enough time, stop watching tv. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop, they will be waiting for you when you start doing the things you love. Stop over analyzing, life is simple. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Some opportunities only come once, seize them.

I find that things that sit heavily on my stomach are definitely irritating my gut, usually in ways that I don't know about for a long time.

I'll eat white rice about once every couple of months when I go on a sushi bender.. I should have been Japanese.

I've been thinking of incorporating it occasionally into my post workout meal, but am in no rush because I freakin love sweet potatoes.

I put white rice into my "grey area" and, like tcb, only really eat it when I eat sushi. I had sushi the other night for supper, and the rice had no discernible adverse affect. And I, too, love sweet potatoes, though I try to save them for my run days - I run in the morning before breakfast 3 days a week, so I might have a small sweet potato or half of a large one for lunch on those days. I like mine baked, with butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon/nutmeg/ground cloves. Yum!

Growing up with rice as one of my staples, I've slowly reintroduced white rice into my overall eating strategy. Like many, though, I love sweet potatoes. I've been able to keep my rice supply well stocked, because of this.

Co-worker wanders into the kitchen as I'm preparing my veggies with bunches of butter for lunch -- "MMMMM... smells like someone was cooking some bacon!"
Me: "Yeah...wish I had some" (we ran out yesterday and hadn't gotten to da store)
Her: "Too bad one shouldn't really eat that stuff!"
    Me: "Since when???"
Her: *blank look* "WAAAY too much fat!"
Me: "How long have we worked together?" *sigh* "I guess my success really doesn't mean anything to y'all... and here I've been trying to be an inspiration" *heavier sigh with head shake*

I was talking to her over the phone and told her how excited I was to have found extra virgin coconut oil in the store here and she said that my cardiologist b-i-l thinks its a bad idea to use coconut oil and that she's using canola oil instead. I want to cry, I REALLY want to cry.

classic. I'm not a clinician, but i work in healthcare. i'm consistently shocked by scenarios just as you described.

I had to provide the other side of the canola argument, months ago. I had to do it, without coming across as holier than thou.. I just cited how coconut oil was used as a therapeutic to Alzheimer's sufferers. And the lady with whom I spoke, said she remembered coming across that in one of her classes, during her college days.

    2. Canola Oil: This artificial, Canadian-exported GMO is super popular and is found in over 30% of all products. It chokes out your mitochondrial cells. Canola oil is really rapeseed oil and can cause emphysema and respiratory distress, eventually leading to cancer.

NaturalNews is a junk site. They never provide correct citations and frequently get the science wrong, exaggerate their claims or flat-out lie. Obviously I'm not a fan of canola oil, but I'm even less a fan of bad science and fearmongering.
