I love working out at home because...

    Primal Fuel
I've had a gym membership for as long as I can remember, but since finding MDA I haven't been to the gym once. And I'm in better shape than I ever was going to the gym. Now I know it's not for everyone, but if you work out at home, what do you like about it? Here's my top 3:

    1) I don't waste 1/2 hour getting to and from the gym
    2) I can listen to whatever music I like, loud
    3) I can do the ironing in between sets (Yup! )

    What about you?

I do my sledgehammer workout at home and blast the Disturbed and Queen while I do it. 14 minutes, I'm done, and I get on with cooking dinner.

I love not having to go to the gym anymore. I would get "approached" too often and my work-outs would get interupted. Also don't have to wait in line for machines. There's always THAT dude who sits on the leg extension machine and won't share between sets. UGH.
Now I just do whatever the hell I want. Oh yeah, edited to say that it saves me $30 a month too.

I don't feel self-conscious in my own home, and the playlist is much, much better.

    Oh my, where to begin?

    At home...

...I can do fun workouts that the trainers in my gym would frown upon.
...I can sprint after a set of squats and not return to find some jacka$$ doing curls in the squat rack.
...nobody ever asks to work in or for me to spot for them.
...there are better ways to "move slowly" than watching Sports Center on a treadmill or an exercise bike.
    ...there are fewer distractions.
...the equipment is set up with a view toward my convenience, not someone else's.
    ...I can workout whenever I want, 24-7.
...my kids get to see me enjoying my exercise.
...it's my sweat on the bench.

"at home i pump iron...and then pump iron!"

i have never had a gym membership. we do have the basement gym of doom here at home, and it keeps growing. i blast slick idiot or skinny puppy and do my squats or tabatas without a care in the world. i do not have to deal with Pink Weight Treadmill Barbie[tm] or WhatChaBench Steroid Ken[tm]. If i feel the urge for pullups, i can head downstairs anytime i want. i know who's touched the equipment and i know its gonna be in the same place and condition that i left it in.

Absolutely. I can be done with my workout in the time it would take me to get to and from the gym and shower.

Yep, all good ones. I save $70 a month by having my own gym at home. At first, I did miss the "social" aspect of the gym and the eye candy. I am now more focused on each rep instead of almost hurting myself when a woman dressed in dental floss bends over in front of me or does that inner thigh machine that spreads and reveals all of her hidden secrets. Not that there's anything wrong with that...just hard to focus on doing an iron cross when she puts it all out there and smiles at you while doing it.

    All great responses.

Yep. I like to know who's touched my equipment.

Years ago I owned a small gym and I kept some of the equipment for my house. I have actually never worked out in a commercial gym :-)

Ah man, working out at home is the best!

    1. No cardio bunnies.
    2. My playlist includes Cradle of Filth rather than Taylor Swift *gag*
    3. I don't have to wait.
    4. I can grunt as loudly as I need to!
    5. The only stares I get are from my dogs...
    6. I don't have to spend $35 a month!

At my last gym there were no 16lb sledgehammers or 200lb tires.
