Long story short, I had problems with digestion (diarrhea and gas mostly) for years before cutting all grains out of my diet. Everything improved after that. Been grain free (at least that I know of) for a few years now. Nowadays if I get sick, it's out of the ordinary instead of the daily trial it was before.

I'm not a huge fan of greens but I try to eat them every now and then because absolutely everyone (from SAD to paleo to vegan) says they are good for you. When I eat them sautéed in fat they are delicious, but I get diarrhea. If I have a big salad I also get diarrhea. I thought it was the oil so I cut back a bit, but I can eat oil on or in other things without being sick.

Last week I made green soup. Cooked a bunch of greens in lard the first time, olive oil the second (was out of lard). Then added stock (beef the first, chicken the second). All ingredients I've eaten in other recipes with no problem. I used an immersion blender and ended up with a delicious, green, creamy soup! But I get diarrhea when I eat it.

Today I ate soup at 1 and by 2:30 I was in the bathroom. So if it's going through me that fast it's not like I'm getting anything out of it except for taste.

So now I'm more seriously looking into this. Is it possible to be intolerant to greens? It's different things I'm trying from kale, beet greens, romaine lettuce, spinach, turnip greens. But they're all leaves.

I wondered if it was the green (chlorophyll?) but I have no problem with cucumber skins, green bell peppers, broccoli, asparagus, etc. Just leaves.

Any insight would be appreciated.
