Looking for your favorite Paleo Donuts! (for my dad's bday present)

    Primal Fuel
Recently my dad mentioned to me that the only thing he craves and could eat all day and never get sick of are donuts. Specially those donuts from Entenmann's.

I'm hoping to find a great paleo recipe that closely resembles a typical donut to make for my dad's birthday.

So far the only raw food recipes I've found for donuts use nuts and seeds and dried fruit to only get the shape and flavor of a donut, but I don't think my dad would enjoy that different texture. I've seen online of paleo donuts that are baked and use healthy flours.

Does anyone have a really good recipe to recommend?

You are probably going to have to experiment with what you (and your dad) would consider "acceptable."

I usually take muffin recipes and pour the batter in a my donut pan thingy and they are usually good enough. Most of them aren't paleo in the strictest sense.

Elana's pantry has a lot of recipes that are close:

I 'm not sure if your dad likes carrot cake or not, but I use this recipe in my mini donut maker once in awhile and they come out really delicious! I usually cut back on the maple syrup and dates to lower the carb content and they still come out fantastic. You can experiment with different amounts of cinnamon, ginger or nutmeg to offset the carrot taste. I once made a batch that tasted like gingerbread and nobody I served them to knew they were grain free.

I know that there are a lot of donut recipes over at Paleomg's blog. Her recipes are usual pretty good - but sweet!
