if you're not trying to be a bodybuilder or powerlifter, i would not worry about. you're fine.
btw, choosing to not eat after 6pm isn't really IF ing. it's just having an earlier dinner.
Hey guys, I'm kinda new to Primal and I had a question. Mark said post-workout fasting is good occasionally, but I eat a lot throughout the day and IF after 6. Not eating after 6 helped me to not binge eat and I feel great waking up whenever I sleep on a fasted stomach. However, I workout 3x a week, but it isn't anything crazy, just to maintain muscle. I get home around 8 pm from work so the only I can workout is then. I was wondering if it's a big deal if I don't eat anything after I workout if it's pretty moderate. My workout routine is below:
Mon/Wed/Fri
1. Pushups: 3 sets x 15 reps
2. Squats: 3 sets x 15 reps
3. Deadlift: 3 sets x 15 reps
I just want to maintain a lean muscle body

"dean ornish and dr. davis think the palmitic acid our bodies use for fuel while we sleep is poison if we eat it. zero-carbers like charles washington think the oldest fuel in our evolutionary history – glucose - used by organisms a billion years ago and without which the brains of modern mammals cannot survive for more than a few minutes – is an unnatural toxin if you eat it. both views ignore basic facts of medical physiology and defy evolutionary history." - kurt harris
Following this logic, not eating till 10 am to maintain 14-16 hour fasting window is just having a late breakfast. Fasting is fasting.btw, choosing to not eat after 6pm isn't really IF ing. it's just having an earlier dinner.

Ok i wake up around 9 anyway, 10 is a good time to eat. Thanks!
actually, i'm going to go out on an unpopular limb here and say that the whole 'i skip breakfast thing,' ever-so-popular, isn't really fasting either. it's skipping breakfast. outside of our paleo/leangains bubble, if you told people you skipped breakfast, they would never equate that to fasting.
not hugely important, feel free to completely disagree with me.

Oh well i'm not really trying to fast anyway. I just like to not eat at least 5-6 hours before i sleep. But what about the post-workout question?? Based on my workout routine, is post-workout food necessary??
I am not a pro here my any stretch of the imagination, but how does your body feel as a result of this? Are you feeling lethargic, tired of weak as a result of not eating? If you feel fine then I would think you will be ok.
