Likely fermented wild berries or fermented honey from a discovered bee hive... but intentionally...

Expirement. Switch to Tito's vodka, it's far cheaper than Ciroc and is gluten free. It's rather nice too (arguably better than Ciroc) although it's from yellow corn, where if you have the money Ciroc is distilled from grapes (which is why the vodka wars consider it not a vodka).

Note that this doesn't apply to flavored vodkas - most of which have some sort of sweetener in them.

I did a year without alcohol, and I can say definitively that after a certain point, you don't feel any healthier. I think the body is able to process good quality alcohol in small doses.

You don't need alcohol to enjoy yourself, but at the same time life's too short. There is something special about red wine chats and glasses of cold creamy Guinness in a bar with your mates.

Had to many 'bad' nights/mornings with vodka to ever really want it again. I prefer spiced rum (hot buttered rum, yum!) and red wine and only two to three times a week.

I would think brandy, over vodka, once you are of legal drinking age.

Screw the "legal" drinking age, most other civilized countries let teenagers drink, as they should. Next you're gonna tell me teenagers should be branded as rapists for having sex with other teenagers...oh wait.

There's something bizarrely puritanical about the OP, and what's with wanting to connect Mark Sisson to teenage drinking? As if the typical crossfit nutritional quackery and fearmongering weren't enough, there you go just being a crazy asshole with some very fishy motives.

Some of the cheaper brands of vodka (at least in the US) do a good job of tasting like vodka in that it should really have no flavor besides the alcohol (which is why it can mix with darn near anything), but are actually made from grains. You'd do best, if avoiding grains, to stick to brands imported from Russia, Poland, ect. because they are more likely to be the real deal potatoe-based stuff.

But as for drinking alcohol, Mark has this to say:

Definitive Guide to Alcohol on a Low Carb Diet | Mark's Daily Apple

Red wine tops his list. And he is by NO means encouraging teens to pick up the bottle.

I fail to see what is puritanical about this. (Only slightly confusing. Pronouns, people, pronouns! And make use of some dependent clauses, why don't you?)) Nor is the OP trying to connect Mark with teenage drinking; quite the reverse from what is written here. Chaohinon, have a drink and relax.
