Hey folks I need some advise and help.

I slowly ramped up my PS intale but caused a GERD flare up. I'm fairly certain that in my attempts to feed 'good bugs' I've fed bad bugs, or at least good bugs overgrowing in the wrong place, leading to reflux.

I presume I have sibo or some similar issue. I'm scared to try Dr Grace's sibo protocol as all that resistant starch could set off the GERD. When I say GERD, i mean excruciating chest pains that I thought was a heart attack and lasted several days.

I have started prescript assist but I think that has made it worse: I think even the small amount of prebiotics in prescript assist is causing reflux, by feeding the bad bugs.

Any help, ideas, or comments appreciated!

    Ben,
Maybe stop PS a few days until the GERD subsides then start again w a 1/2 tsp daily and increase slowly.
I'd go back and either start slowly w the PA or PS and go from there.
    K

Why not try a version of Prescript Assist or another probiotic without added prebiotics, or take a break from both probiotics and prebiotics for now to try to narrow down the source of the problem?

Does anyone know if green plantains have a good source of RS? You would have to cook them, but once cooled might be the same as potatoes and form retrograde RS...

Raw they're a great source of RS. I'd assume that once they're cooked and cooled they can form RS again like potatoes but I can't actually verify that.

Plantains They are an excellent source of RS raw. Once cooked they lose all of their RS and do not get it back when cooled.

I slice mine into chips and air dry them.

Same as green bananas, have to be raw. I dry those as well.

Ok so to be sure, im getting the takeaway that rs should not be cooked, but i thought rs could be formed by cooling after cooking?

Plantain chips are delish, but how do you air dry? I dont have a dehydrator..
