When I hiked the Pacific Crest I spent about a month of it terrorized by mosquitoes. I was on a high sugar diet. Last summer I hiked on the Continental Divide in Wyoming. There were mosquitoes but they didn't seem to bother me as much as the ones in Oregon on the Pacific Crest. I was following a low carbohydrate diet (at least it was pretty low for someone hiking 15 miles a day.) Could be the diet, could be the mosquitoes, could be the region. It's worth a try.

Mosquitos are mainly attracted to carbon dioxide
