    When they ask you eat their cakes and cookies, they are basically being DRUG PUSHERS.

    But what's worse is that people have started bringing in gluten-free cookies and goodies, so the gluten argument isn't gonna work anymore. And I am certainly NOT going off on a primal screed. I guess I'll resort to calories-in-calories-out CW?
    5'0" female, 43 years old. Started Primal October 31, 2011, at a skinny fat 111.5 lbs. Low weight: 99.5 lb on a fast. Current weight: skinny-fat 106.5 lbs because of sugar cheating.

    MY PRIMAL: I (try to) follow by-the-book primal as advocated by Mark Sisson, except for whey powder and a bit of cream. I aim for 80-90 g carb/day and advocate a two-month strict adjustment for newbies. But everybody is different and other need to tweak Primal to their own needs.

    I might break my diet for real springerle cookies. But that'll never happen. It seriously takes weeks to make them and a special rolling pin.

    I'm really disappointed how all potlucks have just become piles of Trader Joe's crap. Hardly anybody actually cooks or bakes anything anymore.

    Fortunately, the only stuff I've seen lying around the office are tangerines. They get ripe this time of year here in So Cal. Life here really sucks. :P

    Ita a slippery slope. I am a recovering sugar addict. I know if i start, it may be hard to stop. I'm not about to threaten the progress and hard work just to not hurt your feelings.

    I thought about making a treat with coconut flour and dark chocolate, but total cost of ingredients was what a good steak dinner would cost, so i'd rather just go without.

    Ill treat my self to some good cheese, wine and chocolate. Maybe give in on some egg nogg and seafood chowdah!

    This is why I am thankful that my co-workers were able to see my weightloss in the past few months. I can easily pass up anything made of sugar and say, "Diet, Thanks, but I shouldn't. I appreciate the offer, they smell / look great, but I have a few more pounds to go".

    In reality, I don't think I have a few more pounds to go, I'd love to maintain where I'm at, but around the office, I need to tell a little white lie to not induldge in the crap that's there.

    That being said, my wife made gingerbread cookies the other day and I caved. I fear I'll cave a few times from my wife's stuff, but she at least tried to sub out anything bad.

    I heard a great quote on a TV show last night. It was something to the extent of

    Does that have flour in it?
    I'm allergic to gluten, it could kill me!

    I don't think they would try to push cakes, doughnuts etc on you after that.

    I think I'd just say, "No thank you. Looks great though." Repeat ad nauseum until they give up. Really, you don't need to give excuses or make them feel better about themselves. You don't need to feel guilty if they take it personally. "No" is a perfectly acceptable response, all by itself. If you feel you must give a reason, a simple, "I'm avoiding sugar" could be added to the "No thank you."

    Those big boxes of chocolates at the doctor's office are tough to pass up. Why is it doctors always give chocolates to each other?
