I'm a Tolkein fan, yet on a base animalistic level I find Daniel Craig v sexy, hence I'm in a quandry :-)
Much prefer reading Tolkein to watching a high-budget hollywood movie version. I've seen the first of the Lord of the Rings Films and decided that it I did not want to go back for more, as it destroyed the magic.
I've read Lord of the Rings three times and find it very special and highly original. Especially the Ents mourning the loss of the Entwives. I have a strong affinity with trees (not quite up to hugging them yet). There is so much other magical stuff and charming humour in Tolkein. I find the creative and sympathetic use of language amazing too, especially the Elf names such as Legolas.
I've read the Hobbit 2 or 3 times. The Silmarillion only once - that felt akin to reading through the history of the queens and kings of england and feigning interest.
